Voluntary early retirement

On a similar note, I don't understand why 3M isn't using voluntary early retirement incentives. I know this was discussed a month or two on this site, but it seems so bizarre that 3M wouldn't pursue this mechanism which would limit liability... — read more

The very best summary of cratering 3M!

"There have been countless efficiency initiatives here, and little to show for it over the years,” JPMorgan analyst Steve Tusa wrote in research note. “This seems like more of the same.” Finally, an analyst who hasn't been drinking Mike and Monis... — read more

We should be safe until Monday

I think we're done with layoffs for this week only. Friday is not the usual day for layoffs, so I think that anything further they have planned will most likely wait until Monday. This is my own speculation, though, based on my long history with... — read more

Any actual layoff info?

Does anyone share actual layoff information on this site? I know layoffs must be actually happening and I'm coming to this site in hopes of learning some of the details, but all I see posted is everything except actual layoff information. If you... — read more

Waiting for package

It is clear that the company would like us to leave without giving us packages. On the other hand, considering that looking for a new job while you have a job is always a better option than putting yourself in danger of looking for a job when you... — read more

Q3 2027 Earnings Call Update

Mike and Monish are the only 2 remaining 3M employees. The plants have been shuttered for a year, 3M's brand has gone the way of Sears/GE and most manufacturing assets have been sold to companies in Vietnam or the Philippines. Wonewok was purchased... — read more

Lawyer needed if accepting terms of layoff?

Is a lawyer needed to look at this if I am going to accept the severance? This looks to be very boilerplate and there was zero intrest in any negotiation. Has anyone been successful that has been laid off from 3M to improve the exit package, that... — read more

Timeline Details

If we don't find out this week that we are laid off are we safe or is the bigger axe going to fall next week too?

Vague pass down

Most vague layoff pass down I've heard. Literally 1 sentence of going lean with no details. Transparency is jokes. Apparently all the $hit management levels and worthless positions here wasting money are immune because we have growth in our plant... — read more

6000 jobs, 6000 families ruined.

Never forget that the people losing their jobs have to go home to their family. This isn't a joke - these people aren't a statistic that boost your profits by $900 million. These are real people with real dreams and families. Your incompetence as a... — read more

Only 600 jobs being affected at HQ?!

Knowing that a bunch of execs are at the conference and drinking heavily during "networking" time. They are likely reading these posts and commenting what ungrateful bstrds we are for posting here and feeling this way. Probably collectively... — read more

A Relevant Post from the Ford Layoff Forum

Found this on the Ford layoff forum and thought people here would appreciate their message. Many similarities between what's going on here and Ford, although they don't have the lawsuits 3M has. https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1mjbqi93 I thought I'd... — read more

Anyone attend Tireman's townhall.

Heard he was full of stories and excuses but always an interesting character. Hasn't EO already been slashed badly enough? Not sure what's left to cut. Any MBBs still around? Tireman, how's the scotch this evening. Planning on another podcast with... — read more

3M leadership theme song: ship of fools

Heard a one hit wonder song today from world party called ship of fools (Save me from tomorrow). You can add the Board to the ship and the business acumen would go down even further. Good luck to all, save us from tomorrow!

Can we stop with the constant townhalls with the same slides and no answers ! Who has had a mtg or conversation that actually had answers ?

I am calling bull...on MR's announcement yesterday

MR mentioned that senior management jobs will be cut. I am calling bull...on that statement. It has never been done in the last 20 years and will not be implemented now. Top management jobs are always safe, come what may. 3M intranet announcement... — read more

Are they enjoying this?

Leaving employees in this much uncertainty is a terrible way of managing layoffs. What do they expect? That we will be productive and focused on work while we are wondering if we will soon be out of a job?

Mike Vale will not be next CEO

While the leadership changes announcement make it sound like Mike Vale is being positioned to take over the reigns after Mike Roman is asked to retire, I believe the BoD will choose an external leader to run the company. The last two... — read more

Layoff targets

I don't trust our leadership at all. Therefore, I do not believe that the target will be those who are incompetent and do not add any value, but precisely those whom the company should not lose. The selection of targets is always problematic here... — read more
