The longtime CTO is leaving. Who remembers 2 in a box?
Nobody wants to stay here.
People are leaving more than ever or at least I don’t remember them ever leaving more than now. Every week one or even more people leave with whom it was pleasant to work with. This company doesn't seem to worry much about it, but it worries me a... — read more

First Friday whiplash
Cengage; We are giving everyone 5 mental health days before the end of 2021! Also Cengage: But we're not going to follow federal law about vaccines.
Profits over everything
Cengage is putting profits over everything and especially its employees. Nothing is as important as the almighty dollar, absolutely nothing. It makes me sick to see people bend over backward to do their best just to be shown the door as the reward... — read more
It just hit me after watching LuluRich on Amazon.
Cengage employees are nothing more that Lularoe Facebook retailers, completely indoctrinated, hyper, obsessive compulsive, abusive, greedy, exploitive and last but not least completely unproductive. Prove me wrong. Pro-tip: You can’t.
Is that it when it comes to layoffs this year?
or will there be more in the near future? After the layoffs at Gale, I wonder what else awaits us by the end of the year?
What would you tell an outsider thinking of applying for a remote position?
Is it worth it? Is Cengage requiring the vaccine? How are the benefits? Do they provide equipment?
This will certainly not boost the morale
Many say that this reorg only affects Gale, but it seems that no one here can confirm whether it is shuffling or layoffs??? I’m sure however that it won’t boost the morale which in my case is the lowest ever. In fact it does not exist. — read more

what makes the competition better/ worse?
A few former colleagues have moved to competitors and now I mostly hear from them that it is much better there. I don't believe much in those stories that the grass is so much greener elsewhere, but it's gotten so bad here that I'm starting to... — read more

People wishing they weren't promoted?
I always wanted to get promotion and I worked very hard to get it. When I finally achieved that, it became clear to me that promotion at Cengage is not a great luck. Ok, I have a higher pay, but I have so much more work and so much more... — read more
Leaving for less pay
Of course, this is not the best option, but I wonder how many people agreed to a lower pay just to get out of here as soon as possible? I am in a big dilemma whether to accept such an offer. I don’t believe there are many of those who got better pay... — read more
Ridiculous Cengage buzzwords addendum
“Fail Fast”. Still cracks me up
No layoffs on the horizon?
I mean, big layoffs? They may not even need cuts given how many people have left on their own lately.
What are the remaining values of this company?
Why are there still a lot of talented people here who are wasting time and who have allowed their careers to stagnate here? Cengage does not deserve talented and skilled employees at all. They are the most devalued here, so it is not clear to me... — read more
How can this model continue?
I’m not kidding, how long can this management by attrition approach, this slog by attrition actually maintain itself? I’m actually surprised this old sow is still plodding along.
Why is everything a mess here?
To be honest, I’ve never worked in a worse company before that has so many problems that need to be fixed. I don't understand why everything should be a mess here? Why is there no will to at least solve one problem at a time? I seem to be asking a... — read more
