Is the severance enough to get you through until you find a new job?
I’m really hunting for experiences of people that have been let go already. I know that p[people have different needs and different spending habits, but in normal circumstances is the severance package something that can realistically sustain you... — read more
Who makes the decisions on which employees are let go?
Is it HR, upper management, someone else? I can't imagine that middle management would have a say. Even some upper management has been let go. Who decides who stays and goes?

What is the severance package being offered? Is the job placement resources worth a damn? How deep will these go?

I know there'll be more layoffs today, but what about the rest of the week? How long do they plan to drag this out?
Why aren't these announced layoffs in the news?
I'm always seeing news articles about company layoffs but for some reason not these.
It’s like they’re not even trying to hide the age discrimination?
Literally all of the people that I’ve seen being laid off recently are older, long-time employees and I don’t think that that pattern is going to change any time soon. They aren’t even trying to mask that fact. Are our Age discrimination laws... — read more

Great job searching advice that needs its own thread

Any chance of getting severance?
Or are they doing it this way to avoid a merger severance?
The Big 3
One thing that is clear to me is that this is not going to stop. Even if you survive these cuts, there are more to come. There is just not enough market demand to support 3 (soon to be 2) giant companies. All the Big 3's revenue has been plummeting... — read more

What will be the criteria for the layoffs?
From what I’ve seen and experienced so far at this company, layoffs were rarely conducted in a logical manner or in any pattern that made sense to me. Keeping that in mind, I find it hard to believe what some posters are claiming on other threads:... — read more
