Instead of complaining, let's be productive! I started this post to help the people upset about RTO find remote work. Let's start a list of General Motors competitors that are hiring remote workers. I'm looking forward to your contributions and thank... — read more
Working remotely is the only reason I haven't left already
I intend to stay here as long as I can still work remotely, and then goodbye GM. Isn't it disgusting how much the management pretends to care about people, while ignoring the fact that many are still here just because they can work from home?
Getting that much deserved promotion
I gave up. it's easier to make an effort and get a job somewhere else where I will eventually get a promotion, than to make double efforts here in vain. I'm interested in whether there is anyone here who deservedly received a promotion, that is... — read more
What's the worst thing about working at GM?
For me, it is the favoritism that does not allow the best employees to get promoted. You?
GM benefits- Salary market adjustment
So in the most recent Total Rewards journal, there was mention of a "Salary market adjustment" coming for folks March 1, 2023... anyone have any idea what the % increase is going to be?
Another way to look at RTO
Working from home is convenient and comfortable but is it good for your career? Your job may be more secure if you are seen working hard. Remember, perception is everything. If you are putting in your best work and few can see it, are you really... — read more
I have never had an experience like this
I made a cardinal mistake when I came here from a company that (I now realize) valued its employees far more than this one does. Is there any company in the industry that cares less about its hard working employees? I would say that there is... — read more
I don't want to do triple workloads anymore
Kudos to those who somehow fought for their right not to do additional workloads, but despite all my efforts, I did not succeed at it. It seems that leaving is the only way out of this situation for many of us...

I can only expect more work
Our manager does not care that his expectations are unrealistic. Just from the beginning of the year until now, the amount of my work and responsibilities have doubled. What's your situation like? I fear that the amount of work will increase even... — read more
Not good
I wonder if our leaders can see the relation between the drastic drop in productivity and the way this company is managed lately. What do you think, do they even care about that? It should be easy to notice that people are under a lot of stress and... — read more

I'm afraid it's passive layoffs for remote employees
Sounds very close to what tesla did... Asked to return or quit now. Later did 10% layoff... I mean I can't think a single rational reason why GM wants return to work for everyone. Is it not working? If so then did GM gave sometime to improve for... — read more
Not a good look GM
Funny how GM’s executive director Tam Golden was quick to comment on Tesla’s Elon Musk Return to Work policy. Elon was very up front about layoffs. GM is trying to avoid negative press and the cost of laying people off. Recently GM went on a hiring... — read more

Remember when GM was a great company?
When management knew what it was doing and the culture was not toxic? When we didn't have to worry about layoffs all the time and we got proper raises and could advance in our career if we put in the work? When we only had to do one job for the pay... — read more

When did you start hating your job?
I think there are fewer and fewer people who actually still love their job here. Unfortunately, there are many reasons for that. I am urgently looking for a way out.
Keeping skills sharp
I thought that I would have a lot of opportunities to learn new things at GM. However, I am not satisfied with how much I managed to upgrade my skillset here. There were simply no such opportunities for me. Since I think that keeping your... — read more
EV Infrastructure is the necessary foundation. Buyers of EV will follow.
Thought to trade in my Chevy Colorado for an EV. Immediately ceased, as I realized I wouldn’t be able to travel from FL to MI without charging problems. No thanks for now.
The host referenced Barra's previous EV targets and asked if she can still say that GM will be No. 1 in EVs by 2025.
Rather than simply saying yes, or reiterating her previous comments about topping Tesla to take the lead, Barra sort of talked around the question.

Hiring for firing is the way yo avoid AGE DISCRIMINATION.
I was hired in 2022. Now I am worried I may be the last in first out if at all a layoff happens. Ford just fired newbies just to avoid age discrimination charges.
IF THINGS ARE SO SAFE AT GENERAL MOTORS
Why do I see so many forceful excuses for why that is? It seems like when General Motors managers want to FORCE you believe something that you really don’t.

Bloodbath at Ford
I have friends who work at Ford and the current situation there is critical. Should we be worried too? I sincerely hope that there won't be such big cuts here.
Devotion to company
I used to work with people who were really devoted to this company. They are now in some other companies. Today it seems that there is almost no one who is really devoted to GM?
