Bank Notification - Vendor Payment

Starting September ending payroll last fall my direct deposit changed from the normal salaried payroll to GMC Division vendor payment. This was only visible via my bank online view. I knew then that something was brewing. I was offered the buyout and... — read more

Remember this!

You are not your job. Your self-worth and manhood should not be equated to your job. Think about it, you really have very little control over what happens to you at your job. Yes, your good work sometimes will make a difference but not always. You... — read more

100% job security doesn't exist

There's no such thing as 100% job security. I don't know why anyone would assume there is. Maybe it's because I hopped around to a few different companies before I landed at GM midway through my career, but my job security was always on me. Make sure... — read more

advanced degree perks

I just came across something interesting. Looks like about 40 people in IT are getting their advanced degrees at the expense of the company. Around 100k to 120k per pop. Looks Like one is in South Africa and I see a bunch of business class flights to... — read more

Glassdoor Ratings

Looks like Mary's approval ratings are Hovering at about 70% on glassdoor. Don't forget to leave your own rating to bring her down to the 60th percentile where she belongs. I think a D grading is appropriate for the job she's done at GM.

Those outside don't know how bad it is internally

My wife works in GM Purchasing and is planning to travel abroad in a couple weeks - a much needed vacation for her. Last week, her manager threatened to not allow her to use vacation because there may be no one to cover for her (due to the recent... — read more

https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/11/29/general-motors-trump-layoffs-factories-auto-industry-222696 Having bean counters run the show and NOT listening to customers is the end of GM. Look at the stock price, nothing is changing.

Is it our turn again?

In the last six months or so we've been alternating layoffs with Ford. They have a round, we have a round, they have a round... Rinse and repeat. So with another wave of cuts at Ford just having ended, is it our turn again?

Why a Dublin IT office

Does anyone know why GM have people in Dublin IT? The people there travel all over the world First class, they spend millions of dollars in just travel and squeeze people from trainings and basic needs everywhere. Does any one have insight?

2008 vs 2019

Unemployment

Looks like if you've been collecting UE while still under severance payments, you may have a problem. Couple of people I'm still in contact with said they are being questioned by the UE Office.

This is not good for any of us

Ford layoffs are bad for all of us. The more people are out of work, the more saturated job market in our industry becomes. Which means that finding a good job with decent pay will become even more difficult than it is right now. This is a huge mess... — read more

How is “End User Adoption” even a thing????

The cuts apparently did not go deep enough, still lots of ridiculous fat left on the bone that should have been offloaded months ago. It’s ridiculous some of the things that are left while good and valuable people were let go.
