Was laid off from GM IT center in Austin on Monday.
My severance was 2 weeks salary for each year of employment. Same for insurance. So I now have 2 months of salary and health benefits. Not much when a person of my age (60+) gets the boot with two years of car and mortgage payments remaining. In my... — read more
Tucker Carlson just scorched GM on tonight's Fox News show
No link to video yet. He lambasted Mary Barra and GM over the layoffs. It was perfect. Link to follow when available.
The modern day CEO does not care about workers
Barra is textbook modern day CEO. Cut cut cut until the stock price goes up. They no nothing after recession of 2008 on how to invest properly in growing businesses and operating. Only cut when stock prices are threatened. No difference in any other... — read more
Is it safe to visit TheLayoff GM-provided wifi?
Not sure what the official position of GM on visiting this site is. There seems to be a lot of people who are doing it nowadays. Granted, I am doing this on my personal phone but sometimes I connect to GM-provided wifi and not sure if this is kosher... — read more

CAD Design or Studio Design Layoffs
Anyone has any update?
Next time, do yourself a favor!
Believed "they" had great ideas moving Cadillac to New York? That was the most unintelligent idea that came out of GM in a very long time. I've posted elsewhere that vision works both ways. The vision to see where your going, and the vision to know... — read more
WARN and April 9th..
Does that mean we would get a paycheck in April? Or only the 2 in March? I was in the 2 year range and my severance would also just get me the 2 paychecks of March. Confused
UAW Bonuses
It’s a slap in the face to get laid off when UAW assembly line workers get nearly $11,000 bonuses. Nothing productive to add, just really frustrated right now.
Is GM still too heavy?
So with all these cuts, is GM still too heavy personnel wise? I look at DRE's that have 1 or 2 components that they're releasing and I can't understand how that fills up 40 hours of their week. I mean, the supplier is doing all the work and the DRE... — read more
