Leaving because of RTO

As much as some would like to leave because of RTO, I don't believe that many will actually end up leaving because of it. Or am I wrong?

How much notice

How much notice does a supervisor get if they are laying off an employee? Is it the supervisor or HR that does the laying off?

Medtronic layoffs in California

Story here: https://www.massdevice.com/medtronic-layoffs-california/ We're hoping to let our readers know about changes at Medtronic before they're announced (if they ever are). We've reported on the VERP and surgical OU consolidation. If you know... — read more

Jobs are out there

I know a lot of people are worried, scared or anxious about the upcoming layoffs. I have been though multiple ones. Sometimes you felt they were personal and sometimes not. One thing you have to remember is they have a number in kind and they will... — read more

I hope I get let go

Medtronic is such a depressing place to work right now. Geoff and the rest of the clown car are either clueless about employee morale or just mean, which is not a good look either way. RTO right as summer starts is a joke. My team is great to work... — read more

How Layoffs Work

Ive gone through many of the threads below pertaining to the possible upcoming layoffs. My question is, if the April 17th date referenced in other posts is true, what is the process? You get told you are getting laid off, but have 60 days of... — read more

Misguided website for a misguided company

check out our main page: https://www.medtronic.com/us-en/index.html section 1: access, equity section 2: zero barriers, inclusion, diversity, equity section 3: innovation (with sprinkling of inclusion, DEI thrown in) section 4: bridge to better... — read more

Negotiating Severance

In one of the threads here, someone mentioned negotiating severance. Has anyone had experience trying this at Medtronic? If so, what terms did you negotiate on, what leverage did you have, and how successful was the attempt?

Layoff Date

I worked on HR at MDT for more than a decade. MDT didn’t really do layoffs until 2008. Then they became a regular business practice. Layoffs are always completed by the end of the fiscal year. They usually start on a Tuesday. I think that they will... — read more

Poor company performance

I've had it with this job and managers blaming us for poor company performance. Will the leadership finally understand what it means to lead and accept responsibility for their actions and failures?

Why are things so complicated

As an employee of around 1yr, I have noticed that we make everything complicated. Every activity is related to the so-called "Strategy", and takes forever to get things done. A simple document approval needs so many decisions made. And yet they talk... — read more

Tired of Bean Counters being Medtronic CEOs

I have been with Medtronic over 30 years and have seen pi-s poor management when the CEO is a bean counter. Art Collins did nothing. Geoff GE boy wonder another bean counter with business degree and knows nothing. The bean counter types always fall... — read more

WFH justification

This is an engineering company=show me the data relating to productivity or just say “thou shall”. The soft talk about water cooler talks is BS. I don’t want to fake interest in your personal life, I have work to do.

For the id--ts complaining about WFH

If productivity was so down and performance nose dived due to WFH workers....why were they kept this long? Why are there so many WFH worked around still? The company could have easily fired them and get new people instead of letting things get this... — read more

Medtronic will become the next GE

While some may survive this round of layoffs the outlook of Medtronic short term and long term is not good. While we continue to struggle with back orders and and losing market share, our competitors are going to thrive while Medtronic becomes the... — read more

Medtronic should be careful with layoffs

The job market has become fiercely competitive in recent years. Production workers now have a plethora of job opportunities available to them, with much better pay rates, conditions, and benefits. Not many people are aware of this, but those who are... — read more

WFH workers ruined everything

I hear all the time working from home is more productive. I’m not saying it is, but far too many people in my opinion took it too far and abused it. You can’t tell me those who worked from home the majority of the time were not taking leisure trips... — read more

Reason for RTO

First the VERP and now the RTO. That is to get rid of the millennium group. People older than that group will just fall in place and follow rules/orders. Millenniums will look for other jobs that allow more flexibility which is what they are banking... — read more

Make the company better

The atmosphere is very heavy indeed. There is a lot of uncertainty and I can't be productive at all while worrying about losing my job. On the other hand, I wonder what my future is in a company where the leadership is not at all interested in... — read more

Dissatisfied with work here

Unfortunately, people are starting to look for new opportunities only now when they think they might become jobless, while in fact we all should have looked for a new job when we stopped being satisfied with this one. There are many long time... — read more

Global IT chatter about RIF's

It could be time to leave

Given the current circumstances, I believe it would be best for a lot of us to leave this place as soon as possible. It seems that job security is becoming increasingly uncertain for everyone, and this is affecting both mood and motivation - and not... — read more

Can’t spend $28 on part

I was told I can’t spend $28 on a part for the lab that would have helped keep things on schedule. No using P-card nor using Tech Fellow funds period. It’s been over 2 months now and can’t move forward with the project due to $14. I argued over and... — read more

Looking for a new job reduces anxiety

If I were to just wait and see if I was going to lose this job soon or not, I think my anxiety would be through the roof. On the other hand, my friend who is also looking for a job says that his anxiety is much higher since he started looking for a... — read more

What is keeping everyone here?

Honest question, I’m having a harder and harder time answering this with each passing day. Please provide any motivation you currently have to stay so that I can reevaluate my pros/cons.

Leadership?

It would be one thing if they were saying “We know times are tough but if we stay strong and follow the plan better days are in sight”. The reality that is becoming more and more clear is these id--ts don’t have a plan, let alone one they would ever... — read more

April 17th, good day to use some PTO

I was told directly by a high up this is the day when it will go down. Sad that we need to use this site to get the most basic life impacting information. Bunch of clowns running the show. Good luck to all.

Send the Executive Leaders home

The role of the leaders is to plan for the success of the company. It’s funny that the same leaders who have failed doing their jobs, are now put in charge to select who needs to leave the company! A message to Medtronic Board of... — read more
