September layoffs

There was talk about September layoffs but from what I can see nothing has happened so far. Since the end of the month is near, can that rumor be put to rest? Or has anybody heard anything new and we might be seeing cuts next week? I feel that... — read more

See the Chevron Mike Wirth interview on Kramer tonight

What a contrast in leadership, Wirth is CEO that has vision and conviction that is clearly articulated and clear to the investment community. The CVX dividend is higher today then before COVID-19. Oxy has done a great deal in LCV but no one in the... — read more

Vaccine Mandates for Work

So the govt is going to make us all get vaccines to come into work. Yet as I watch football games across the country hundreds of thousands of fans sit less than a foot apart. This is both the NFL and NCAA as well as MLB. It is all across the country... — read more

A pandemic cannot be blamed for everything

Someone else here noticed this as well, is it possible that they blame COVID for all the problems here? I get the feeling that leadership blames the pandemic for most of the things that are wrong in this company, instead of accepting responsibility... — read more

WFH future..............

It sure would be nice if we could WFH and live in a different town. I am about tired of this heat from May-Sept. Thinking out of the box I wonder if HR could come up with regional salaries that are adjusted to your location. It might be a way to save... — read more

Social tests for layoffs

Does anyone know if the company checks for the relative number of conservatives and liberals in a lay-off. Liberals at Oxy Texas locations probably stick out like sore thumbs compared to Conservatives.

Collegial relationships

How many quality collegial relationships have you managed to build while at Oxy? I don’t know about you but I’m still in touch with most of the colleagues who have left here.

Setup for mediocrity

I can’t help but notice that Oxy, unlike what it was a few years ago, is now a perfect setting for mediocrities. I have talked to some acquaintances in other companies in the industry and it turns out that Oxy is not unique in that regard... — read more

Lost the plot

When one is focused on DD&A and DIB as the important things instead of cash flow, it is clear Oxy has lost the plot.

#WeAreFamily

No. No we aren’t. We are co-workers. Enough with this “our most valuable asset is our employees” and “we are family” kumbaya “Imagine” nonsense. We are co-workers trying to deliver a profitable product so that we can afford to raise our REAL... — read more

Do your research on everything

“Do your research!!!” Here’s the thing. Research is a learned skill; it is hard, it is nuanced and complex, and it is true that the majority of people would not even know where to begin or even HOW to do [their own] research. Research is... — read more

DIB being involved in recruiting is unethical

DIB may sound great, but Oxy just confirmed to me that it is committed to categorizing people based on race, gender and ethnicity. Equity is lowering our hiring standards and I am disgusted to work at this company. We should be looking at the most... — read more

"A good mix of quality gas and oil projects"

Reading one of these threads I saw that there are those who agree that the company has a good mix of quality gas and oil projects. Is it possible that someone actually thinks that? Really? I never would have agreed with this, but I'd like to hear... — read more

I can't go back to WFH

Not because I don't like it but the opposite. It took everything I had to continue coming to the office as soon as people started returning because my manager indicated that doing otherwise would not be looked upon favorably. If I were to go back to... — read more

Expectations on WFH?

I think many people want to work from home after the VH email, but are worried on a functional level ie how it will be perceived by their group (I.e supply chain, or land senior management). I guess my question is, are there different expectations on... — read more

WFH?

Who is planning to WFH again that has been coming to the office since June?

I hope there will be no layoffs

What are the latest rumors about layoffs? Are there any? I’m getting bored of hearing stories about vaccines and WFH, and I share an opinion with a person who says that anyone who thinks there won’t be layoffs is naive. However, all the talk about... — read more

I don't get some people

Several people I talked to said they'd be willing to quit if they are required to return to the office full time. Why is that suddenly such a big issue? It's not something new and inconvenient they're implementing, it's just a return to normal. How... — read more

Extend WFH

With hospitalizations up and ICUs nearing capacity I hope Oxy reconsiders the September 7th return to work. And to all the naysayers consider the following: this is not about COVID. If you are in a car wreck, have a heat attack, stroke anaphylactic... — read more

Is Oxy still inclusive of experts?

Please don't get me wrong, I am always for inclusiveness and diversity. However, it seems to me that the company has become the least inclusive for professionals. As if everyone else is more welcome here.

Sacrificed personal time for the company?

This is somewhat understandable, however, I have noticed that there are people who brag about sacrificing their personal time for this company because it shows their commitment and makes them look like hard workers. What did that sacrifice bring you?... — read more

Delta Variant

Can we go back to WFH now that the CDC has said they were wrong to say unvaccinated people can not wear masks? Also, vaccinated people are still getting sick.
