GoM Acquisition

Anyone hear what was acquired in GoM? There was a mention of a acquisition in a meeting last week and was just wondering. Thanks!

Oxy Retiree medical costs increase

Did any other Oxy retirees wake up this morning to find that Oxy retiree medical/dental costs increased. My bill from PayFlex went up almost 50% compared to last month. Been retired on x1 family retiree rate since November.

Stimulus check and VSP

Has anyone who took the VSP figured out how to ethically and legally get the most recent stimulus check or the next one? It seems like most VSPers have been all paid out and are no longer drawing an income this year. We are no different than a... — read more

A year later

Having major layoffs last January right before the pandemic hit was some majorly bad timing (unintentionally) for those affected. I'm guessing they didn't have many options for other employment for a while unless they started looking right away... — read more

Oil at $50 and rising

How many can say something positive without including a criticism or insult? My guess is very few.

GOM leadership leaving

Another leader (LAPC Director) is packing up and leaving for a competitor as things just don't seem to be getting better in the GOM group. Not much to see here folks, just a mismanaged group run by incompetent / arrogant executive. Safety is as... — read more

Does Oxy suk or just energy in general

The stock prices of major and big independents Vs time are similar to that of Oxy. The entire sector is rotten now and is probably not a great investment. Maybe that is obvious. Wait 6 months then things might turn around.

Back to work

Looks like the WFH will continue for at least through Q1 so you can continue to get another 3 months off. Not a bad gig to work from home, get paid a lot of money, and still get bonuses.

Reeves and Pecos Counties Asset Sale

Public records show Oxy sold about 40,000 net acres to PE backed Forged Energy II in Reeves and Pecos Counties. I believe this is the same acreage they bought for $40,000 per acre from J. Cleo et al in 2016 Wonder how much they sold per acre ... — read more

Oxy is best seen from distance

While working here, I knew that management was not the best, but I always had doubts that I might not be the best worker either. In fact, I mostly blamed myself. Some things are probably not seen clearly when you are here, so only when you leave... — read more

Good time to upgrade staff

*Even after Covid the oil business will never be the same as it was pre-Covid as there were many buyouts, mergers, vsp, retirements, and layoffs. So many people are out of work and available that Oxy could have their pick of candidates. Actually, it... — read more

So much justice going on at Oxy

Given the companies demise is one example of karma, I can't believe how many at Oxy have been affected by Covid. Its simply poetic and brings so much justice to a company that thinks they can take the lives of people born differently through bullying... — read more

Forty Billion Dollar Debt

OXY spends money like a drunken sailor in Vegas. OXY should stop everything and everyone to clear this debt in 2021. No spending, maintenance only, and clean house

To my fellow VSP’ers

I got a nice package last year, so I’m not at all complaining. BUT...I only have a year left of payments and job prospects look bleak given the economy and my age. Anyone experiencing this too? This first year went by so fast. I’m just getting a... — read more

Happy Xmas and new year!

Wish you all a very happy Xmas and new year. So much to look forward in the new year. Vaccine, life back to normal, oil in $50s, eligible people taking jobs in hand and ineligible people shipped to golf course 😛.

No VSP Rehires!

No, Oxy is NOT re-hiring peeps who took the VSP!! Quit asking and starting hurtful rumors! I know this to be true because like I said in an earlier post, I actually work HR at Oxy! Sheesh

Oil at $48.

How high will it get by year's end? Most are happy for the industry and the company. A few are disappointed. Which one are you??

Re-org info?

Any info on the reorg that is supposed to be announced by end of year? What is the “US Prod Ops Organization” supposed to be? Hoe will all the newly-created teams in the new development arm be staffed?

Job opening

How stable is The Woodlands office location? Im iterested in a Job opening (Technical Security Coordinator) but hesitant to apply due to layoffs in the industry.

Texas warn notices

Why did Oxy not file a WARN notice on layoffs in 2020? Both Exxon and ConocoPhillips have. There must be some difference in the number of layoffs or some other technicality. It seems like they all would give the 60 days pay no matter what so it... — read more

Oxy logic

Since the company is not laying off it must be doing well. Since it is doing well let’s bring back the dividend so common stockholders get at least as much as WB does.

You have to admit Oxy cares about its people

I think a lot of people at Oxy don’t realize how lucky they are. Look around the industry. Exxon is laying off 20% of their Houston office, cut 401(k) matches, and is forcing people to come into the office during the pandemic. ConocoPhillips is doing... — read more
