Outplacement Assistance?
Does anybody know if Qualcomm is offering outplacement assistance for layed off workers? They used to offer Drake Beam Morin assistance years ago. It was somewhat helpful in a previous layoff.
Customer Engineering Layoffs
Layoffs in customer engineering have begun. Just got meeting notice from my Sr. Director.
Never thought I'd say this. But having been laidoff at Qualcomm and joining Broadcom didn't turn out so bad after all
I mean, with the pending Avago merger, I'll probably get laidoff again next year. But at least my RSU's have doubled at Broadcom. And I think under change of control, my remaining RSUs will vest immediately if I were to be laidoff as part of the... — read more

If Qualcomm is smart, they'll solicit volunteers for early retirement and volunteers to be laidoff.
Because I'm sure there are plenty of people that would be motivated to go, especially if there was a bigger carrot to go. I know I sure would. Until then, I'll just keep "working from home"

US companies should be hiring US citizens. This idea of cost cutting by sending US jobs overseas really needs to be hit hard by the government, and by the market. Despite the hype of the QGOV talking heads, this is not a company who gives a crap... — read more
