Even during good times, you know that our RSU and Bonus pool was always larger than QCT's. And now, adding insult to injury, the bulk of the RIF's are coming from QCT. Sorry.
incredible
I am not sure about you guys, but I've followed 5 tech companies (Q included) on this site regarding layoff news/predictions/leaks. All the "rumors" have been 100 % accurate. Kudos to the kind-hearted layoff-news leakers for giving us headsups. Most... — read more
I work in corporate R&D and what a sigh of relief....
Phew! Time to go home. It's been a stressful day. I need to relax by the beach and do some surfing to get my mind off of things.

We are f***ed, ladies and gentlemen!
This is the end, even if we survive this wave of layoff Qualcomm is going down like a house of cards within next year end. Lets face the reality and prepare to hit rat-race of SV job market. Say bbye to beautiful San Diego and work-life balance.
When will employees start getting layoff notices?
Will it be through email, phone, in person? This f***ing sucks.
I am a motherfvcker layoff survivor. Fvck you.
You call this a fvcking massive layoff? This is not a fvcking massive layoff. This is a just someone pissing in the wind. You want to go through a massive layoff? Go work at a dot bomb company that closes down, go work at Motorola, Go work at MCI, Go... — read more
Outlook for U.S. Chip Companies => Dismal
U.S. companies will never win a pissing match with asian companies over cost

I have been through this a few times. If you are close to retirement, wait it out, take the severance and enjoy retirement. If you need to work and want to stay in San Diego, don't wait get your resume out there before the layoffs start happening... — read more
25% reduction in availability of La Croix
Rumored to hit most SD conference rooms shortly. Rumor is the Pamplemousse is not impacted.
I got my layoff noticed today
I met with HR today. They told me that my job was no longer available and gave me a package. It only has 2 months. I worked here for 11 years. Did anyone else get a package?
Can Same cost reduction be achieved by Looking at compensation given to VP's and above
Lot of compensation is given to management who has been driving company down. Isn't almost same cost reduction may have been achieved if management was not given huge compensation they have received in past?
New directors to decide on separation. Now, it's gonna happen because new directors are on Jana side
Well now that Corp R&D is safe, it's time to resume work here and
Write my next hit song!
If Q wants to cut heads, they should hire the Avago CEO...
That prick seems to be really good that that. Just look at his rating on Glassdoor
Dear HR cheerleader, we miss you.
Where are those positive words of encouragement :)
No, "right sizing" isn't the worst words I heard...
I use to think the term "right sizing" was the worst euphemism I heard. That is, until I went to another company, and heard the CTO, when talking about reducing cost, said that they needed to "curb engineering inflation"
Perhaps the worst word ever invented in Corporate America...
"right sizing"! Oh, puke!
Closing Offices....Does that mean that more than 15% reduction in San Diego workforce....and relocating work elsewhere???
If there is less desk space because of closing offices....does that mean they are going to have significantly fewer employees in San Diego and work done elsewhere ?
It's much easier to save 300 million if Qualcomm can be stronger against China Government
Qualcomm acted like a coward for the China antitrust case. They even did not say a single shit when the company wa fined with 1000 million.
Well, this strategic alignment plan didn't do shit to help the stock price...
But then again, since most everyone won't be getting RSU's moving forward, only the execs, I guess it wouldn't matter if it goes to $0 now.
I want my GTFO papers. Please give them to me before the mid -August. I want to leave with a GTFO package..
See ya semiconductor industry. Wouldn't want to be ya.
Qualcomm Closing Offices
This is what CNBC reported on Office Closures: "The cost initiatives will come from layoffs, streamlining and reducing the number of offices, the company said." - http://www.cnbc.com/2015/07/22/qualcomm-q3-earnings-2015.html

12K per employee
If the savings target is 300 Million, and if 25K people are left employed - let's do the math: 300,000,000/25,000=12,000 - so, on average our loss (bonus/RSU) would be around 12K per employee (I'd take that)
