2025 Layoffs in Q3

IT, Finance and Commercial are expected to layoff ~300 people in 2 waves starting with IT in early Q3 2025. A majority of operational support for IT will be moved to outsourced providers. Major IT restructuring will be done using the “spans and layers” concept suggested by BCG to reduce management layers.

@mfk why are they still spending money? The plants didn't get a golf tournament. The ergs are told to stop spending money. Icare day? What icare day? Yet they are still spending money like nothing has changed. It's more than bad optics. They are irresponsible children that needs their cc taken away! If you want to save money how about selling that hotel you built and work from home like a lot of other companies are doing! It will save you a lot of money in staff and building maitenance costs! Stop making up new manager postions! You wasted company money to be told how to do your jobs and you are still doing the thing they told you to stop doing! You are destroying what used to be a great company! Please STOP!

@me4 the golf outing is typically 100–150 k?? Wow that’s insane. Makes sense it’s a big event. Why are they not cutting things like that out?

@mdr I’m curious, how much did the CPChem Shootout cost this year? Historically it’s been between $100k-$150k. You’re having a golf tournament full of smiles and fellowship with customers right before another layoff. Get a grip man…what terrible optics that is! How many customers or new orders did you procure from the shootout? ZERO!

They're laying people off with a garbage script in a TEAMS meeting. Unprofessional is the understatement of the century. They make bad financial decisions and the people that are ACTUALLY doing the work are paying the price. F**king ridiculous. There are some fat paychecks that could be cut for those who literally do NOTHING... but, by God they have a masters degree, so let's keep the useless tu-d. RIDICULOUS.

It’s always a big celebration before the layoffs. Big party for the new HQ, layoff round 1 right after, CPChem Golf Shootout, layoff round 2 right after. Next will be the fancy Thanksgiving lunch in a parking garage and then round 3 layoff right before Christmas. True iCARE, Caring by Choice!!

@md8 Yes, I agree and this isn't the end. He said "planned layoffs" in his email. Well I can absolutely see "unplanned" layoffs will happen because leadership at corporate and sites won't stop spending on unnecessary items. Free lunches, shirts, coolers, green egg grills, you name it... all in the spirit of "team building". Leadership with their heads in the sand while the morale continues downhill. They won't hold people accountable to do the work they were hired for, which is wasting more money! They need to cut cards off, reduce budgets and truly stop the frivolous spending. It's all these sugar coated words of "shared sense of urgency" and the rest of the AI written email that isn't hitting home! Just speak the truth and say you sc--wed up with 2 huge projects at once and you don't have the ba--s to stop the bleeding! These long time employees that are used to spending what they want - they won't stop. And replacing company workers with contractors isnt the answer. The contractors from staffing agencies give zero Fks about our CPC bank account.. they spend more because they are not an invested loyal employee! They will buy whatever because they think it will make them liked enough where they will get a permanent spot. We will bankrupt and they will roll on to the next.. I have recently seen some really intelligent and vaulable employees leave on their own accord. I realized today that it may be best to be open to new opportunities too. No positive attitude can fix this sinking ship. We need a real CEO!

@mdp right. Hard to answer what group and still have to go in and train your replacement. Just keep your head down, do what’s asked and apply like crazy!

@mdn Really? No one will answer that! They would be crazy to. The just admitted to milking it dry. They wouldn't want to lose that gravy train.

@md7 That's some pretty terrible advice you bootlicking piece of sh**. Did you ever stop to think that maybe it's not going to be all rainbows and marshmallows when people can't afford everyday life let alone things like Christmas presents. Layoffs lead to financial problems which leads to divorce and breaking families apart. Since you speak with the authority of someone who is in the know, please don't decieve yourself into thinking everyone is going to come out this situation without bad things happening to them because of this company's terrible decisions made over and over again by terrible leaders who do not listen or care about the devastation left in their wake.

@mck don't worry the CEO says this was the final reduction. See transparency. I'm glad they didn't make a huge mistake and keep the same ones in power that got us here... Oh wait.

The results of some terrible decisions that were made have been revealed today. There doesn’t appear to be any silver lining to this. While I am still employed with the company, I think I might go ahead and get out in front of the next one.

@mc9 I agree - I left a while back, I feel for all the employees being let go. As for the company it is nice to see that ship sinking.

@mc7 I agree. The people being let go are the ones that made this company run and be successful. They are cutting themselves off at the knees. The “leaders” are the nerdy kids that got picked on in school and now have the inferiority complex. But now I’m with a competitor as well, I will enjoy watching the ship burn!

Chevron or P66…if you’re reading this, you need to know leadership has lost all respect from the employees and you can’t run a company when no wants to follow a leader. You just dropped billions into projects that you won’t get a payout for many many years if at all based off of these so called “leaders”. Clean house and actually bring experts from the chemical industry to right the ship. Otherwise, you’re throwing good money after bad.

Burn baby burn!

I left the company for a direct competitor awhile back and I can tell yall it’s been the best decision of my career.

CPChem is filled with talented, wonderful people who made this company special for a long time. We’ve just been commanded (not led) by a bunch of chucklefu-ks who shouldn’t run a lemonade stand but managed to fail up the ladder.

For those of you who are now looking for a job or suspect you will be soon: it can be scary out there, but it can also be much better.

To those who have been impacted by the layoffs, please know that this moment does not define you. You will come out stronger and better positioned for the next chapter in your career. When updating your resume, be sure to list “Reduction in Force” next to your time at CPChem, as it provides important context for your departure.

I voluntarily left CPChem years ago because I could no longer tolerate the verbal abuse and bullying that were part of the culture. After joining a company with a healthier and more supportive environment, it took me a while to adjust. After being so used to being abused for years…I felt like a rescue dog, instinctively jumping back, bracing myself even when my new manager was simply extending a helping hand.

If you are feeling the same way right now, please remember healing and growth take time, but they do come. You deserve to work in a place where you are respected, valued, and supported. Better days are ahead.

If you received an individual Teams Meeting invitation early tomorrow morning, you will be laid off. This pertains to Corporate Staff, Finance, Commerical and Procurement. Mostly CAC's, LAC's, AP, a handful of Sales, Product Managers and Business Analyst.) Also, likely some Finance positions at the plants. Manufacturing layoffs are coming by April 1st, or before.

@m8n some sources suggest that it will be mostly corporate employees. Restructering of engineering roles and responsbilties are in the works. There will be a 3rd wave after that. The parent company wants to see these layoffs.

Speaking of the “mean girls” in HR, someone filed yet another complaint against “Law More” and all they did was have a conversation with her. She’s part of their circle, so of course they’re going to protect her.
