Of course he will. You don't spend your entire career at a single company and not think what you did was the only way to do it.
Someone will have to go once he starts hiring his former Marathon buddies.

It shouldn't be about layoffs but rather if the right people are doing the right things. Maybe fewer powerpoints to each other as a starting point.
