The Chattanooga Times Free Press has undergone an ownership change, resulting in over fifty employees losing their positions. Firecrown Media acquired the publication from WEHCO Media, significantly reducing the staff from 128 to 74. The new owners plan to modernize the paper with a digital-first approach and focus on regional news. Printing operations will be outsourced, and the print edition will be reduced to one issue per week. Employees have until October 31st to qualify for severance packages.
