Virginia is experiencing a substantial increase in job losses this summer, with over 430 individuals expected to be laid off in August alone. Since June 21, nearly 3,000 people have lost their jobs, marking a more than 50 percent rise compared to the same period last year. This summer's job cuts are more than triple the number recorded in 2024. Overall, the state has seen approximately 1,000 more job losses announced year-to-date in 2026 compared to 2025. Several companies, including T&H Services LLC and Times Fiber Communications, are contributing to these figures through closures and layoffs.
