Woodbridge officials are considering closing Keasbey Fire District No. 4, a move they claim will save taxpayers money and improve emergency services. Opponents, however, suspect the closure is a precursor to redevelopment of the valuable land. The township cites a state inspection highlighting declining membership and rising costs as reasons for the proposed dissolution. A final decision on dissolving the 117-year-old district is expected on August 12. The eight full-time firefighters would be reassigned to other township firehouses.
