Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

LC Worst CIO

LC is absolutely the worst CIO imaginable. A sack of trash would do a better job. Who ever hired him should be fired as they are terrible leaders for getting such a bad leader. We all know its MW and he's terrible himself.

Meh. I liked a post on here that was like +35 on here after the first day that was a negative assessment of the SETH. A week later the haters grew -40 almost overnight.

Moderators delete posts for many common, generic, obvious easily detectible reasons on this site. It's not about you or your specific pet peeve or least favorite person. It's not a conspiracy or the result of anyone at your company's influence.
Get over yourselves and buy a clue.

@qj It appears posts are being deleted when AK is mentioned. Worst hire ever. LC made that happen after her previous company let her go.
HR needs to let her go
Zero value

LC was hired to move jobs to India, and a slash employees in the United States.

That’s it. That’s the job.

Company that historically promotes from within, would not bring in a CIO from outside unless that was the main goal.

After 19 years, I knew I wasn’t gonna survive last year’s ROM when they brought him aboard.

The days of Chevron being one of those old-school companies where you can get hired in your 20s and retire after 30+ years in your 50s with a fat pension and a 401(k) are over.

@j2 agreed, they kept they likes of SB, MA, TK and RB. No competent company would keep these id--ts. Especially the horrendous RB.

@bf nailed it. Almost no PSG 25+ people were laid off last year compared to 24-and-below. The doers got pushed out the door and the empty suits of middle management were kept. Since July I’ve seen a half dozen people resign and leave from our group and all but 1 were very smart and high performing. Seems the best folks are ditching this sinking ship - I would be too if I weren’t 2-3 years from being able to retire.

Gonna be really funny (not) when the post 1945 relative stability stops... instantly... when all of the high-speed connections(physical) to the opposite sides of the world go dark.
It won't matter "I had a good, expanding relationship with ___ and we were collaborating on how to increase the efficiency and scheduling for heat exchanger defouling.

  1. He wasn't brought in to be a master CIO, he was brought in to administer the consults deep cuts. 2. All they have done is run off the talent and the empty loud talking middle managers are still there.

I bet he used Copilot to write his resume and cover letter for Chevron. I just updated mine and I received a steller letter by writing against the job description. it only took me <15 minutes

I am not convinced they are getting rid of the slackers as you state. The problem with It is the legacy middle managers that are still in a fixed mindset and are unwilling to change under the new management. LC has to change of get rid of too many middle LT to make the progress he needs to make. I am sure it happen over time but it will take a while longer. BTW, I will be okay with the changes

This is a funny statement, "It will be good when Engine is full speed ahead and we don't have to deal with your sense of entitlement any more."
By the time the Engine is full speed ahead, the engine employees will start resigning because the best ones get higher pay at another company.
I have already seen examples of the Engine overestimating the value delivered and underestimating the amount of work/time it takes to get something implemenated at Chevron.
LC has not been at Chevron long enough to get the Engine running on all cylinders. I actually wish everything will come together faster but the Engine will take more time to "run full speed ahead"

@b9 ok IT certainly has its share of failures, but LC doesn’t come anywhere near a BB. He’s only been the equivalent of a PSG 26 at General Motors and talked his way into Chevron. If anything these executive search firms continue to present terrible candidates to the ELT who don’t know any better.

Personally think LC is doing a much better job than BB ever did. For starters, the folks collecting a paycheck while doing nothing, like OP here, are being exposed and held accountable. We need a lot more of that in IT. Fortunately the culture is shifting and folks like this won't be around much longer.

IT whines too much. It will be good when Engine is full speed ahead and we don't have to deal with your sense of entitlement any more.
