I have seen the exact same behavior labeled as passion and excused resulting in OWD label and then another person with no issue but some backstabbing feedback claiming the person gets upset being put in NSI for much less to nonexistent behavior.
What you do or do not do is meaningless. They will spin it to get the outcome they want.
Yes, I experienced the same “passion” in a meeting several years ago at a US refinery from a younger contact engineer. This individual was a HiPo so the behavior was brushed off as passion and intensity.
Or when things are excused as being "cultural"....
It’s such a double standard it’s fine when the “golden kids” do it, but not when you do it. Honestly, I could write a whole book on the brutal practices I’ve seen here for everything: travel expenses, presentation styles, office etiquette, technical work… the rules magically change depending on who’s doing it.
