For too long, they had layers on top of layers of reporting lines for the ‘CISO’ that made no sense. His title wasn’t even a CISO but a VP, that reports to a VP that reports to a VP. That made no sense. Now, hes the CISO of a company that will see his value.

What we actually need is a real CSO. One that actually makes a difference. The place could run with IB in charge. Let’s get rid of the actual clown that we call a CSO. He’s just in it for the love of SBS. What does he actually contribute? He spends half of his time rearranging his office furniture and the other half trying to find SBS. IB would actually do the right thing. He would get rid of teams that shouldn’t exist and ONLY exist because JM doesn’t have the ba--s to admit they don’t add any value.
You mean the person who no one wanted to report to them and had been whining for a CISO tile and finally had to get it from his old boss?
He knew next to nothing about technology, basically a glorified program manager who was wildly over-leveled and convinced he knew better than the people doing the actual work. Like plenty of Nike veterans, he didn’t exactly have a marketable skill set that public companies were lining up to hire. So where did he land? Back with a former boss, who tossed him a fancy title as a consolation prize. Meh.
My guess is AS got out before Nike cut their way to a major incident which would have tarnished his reputation. Don’t blame him one bit. Smart move. I’m out the first chance I get too!
Security only does fear mongering at Nike. They wouldn’t know what a good security org is if it hit them in the face! Bunch of paper pushers who make us look at keynotes and training to claim how awesome they are. At least learn from the actual security folks when you go to these conferences. My org had to take cuts because security couldn’t! Such partial treatment. Hopefully we get an actual CISO this time!
