Are executives making stupid comments and decisions? Look no further than their bonus KPIs. They will do asinine things to game the KPIs and get their bonus. Disgusting.

Cutting employees and then turning around and hiring third parties to do the work at increased cost.
Give some examples because I’m quite curious.
I have found interesting as a planner that there is such a focus on headcount reduction when you can achieve higher earnings in other ways (cutting revenue incentives such as rebates/discounts). We will cut headcount, then hire a more expensive contractor (net negative to earnings), for the sole purpose of lowering headcount. I would have thought the company would care more about underlying earnings than specific KPIs.
