Planning to be let go in the next few years. Thinking about early retirement.
Taking skills to smaller local shops in barter/trade for groceries, restaurants (food), clothing, baked good, etc..

Love it. Left Oracle 5 years ago and toyed around with some small companies that were messes run by horrible people. Wish I got into trades at 28 instead of going to a company that was acquired by Oracle. They were run by clowns. Ironically I don’t e Oracle for their total circus and the men and women who were absolutely incompetent running it. They were just garbage. Haha. So happy to be gone.
I didn’t make the layoff list last time… but said sc--w this, and decided to retire early… said I will figure it out somehow and survive. I left on my own and couldn’t be happier. I realized how toxic that place was… and just how miserable I really was. You will all be fine one way or another.
I spend time with my grandkids. My two daughters call me all the time and I live in Colorado Rockies. My son and his partner meet my wife and I to do things. And of course DRINK BEER. So times are good after my RIF from Oracle.

Once you unplug from tech and start doing things like gardening, cooking, and reading on those topics you thought were interesting decades ago while in undergraduate, I suspect you stay away from this industry hard and fast.
Figure out your FIRE number, and walk away!
Discuss that early retirement with your manager and step level? So you don’t miss out on some package they might be able to get you
Then the asset crashes someday and your FIRE life is over!
Finally, someone creative enough to re-think the entire tech cesspool! Most su-kers seem to think that they'll be able to stay the course. Go figure.
