ITC leadership does absolutely nothing. Nothing.
Having a VP in ITC makes perfect sense: That’s where 90% of tech jobs will be after the next layoffs wave. You know, I know it. Everyone knows it.
If the new VP was so great at Walmart, why is he coming to Nike? Doesn't matter, RA needs more VP's reporting to him to make his position seem necessary.
It's not that India doesn't have talent, because it definitely does, but given how hard Nike struggles to find and attract talent in the US, they are even worse about doing so in other countries, so we aren't getting the best and brightest. The wage gap is also shrinking faster than the justifications can keep up with. This will end predictably.
Not surprising. Another big tech wave coming because of this too because they need to justify the long-term need for the role.
Remember, the Indian culture is take care of YOUR PEOPLE so they will ensure each other are well insulated. The only time they do not do this is if it places their job in harm then they flip to everyone for themselves.
Low cost ITC labor is how they think they cut costs. Get what you pay for which is a fraction of the skills and capabilities of an onshore engineer. Nothing you can do though. These are Indian companies talking to our Indian leaders further driving dependencies to employ more people in India
