@a1 using that word for everything doesn't sound psycho at all. No other industry uses "execution" or "execute" when describing actions regarding human beings. Another bizarre office worker term that should not be used.

Plus, you'll be paid hourly so you can't slack off all day. A union doesn't sound so fun now right?

Even though I'm a centrist I still have to say "you've clearly never been to California or Massachusetts." I knew union people with offices who routinely locked the door and napped for hours. People had to make the same exact mistake N times to get fired so if it was a mixed shop and you had an employee who kept sc--wing up but not in exactly the same way each time the only way to get rid of them was to submit them to a higher position under someone else in a union only slot. They are the opposite of disciplined work that so many here imagine and are poorly matched for creative work where value is not locked to a schedule. On the other hand they kept people from dying in burning buildings when they were chained to their desks. Neither side learned the fine art of balance.

After many decades of garbage code and 25 years of layoffs no one in leadership has figured out that layoffs aren't making the code at the "software company" any better. More layoffs won't fix that. Unions won't fix that. Cisco is a big dinosaur filled with little dinosaurs and it has neither the means nor the will to make the kinds of dramatic changes to help both the company and its employees. Accept this is as good as it is going to get and if that isn't enough make a change to improve your lot by finding a better company.

@wn no, all the former/current "top talent" are on DinkedIn making up bullsh-t, making posts with things like "leveraging the capitulation of the stakeholder's circle-back scope" and wearing suits to send emails and sit in chairs.

This, not trained skilled technical work, is what nets >$300k/year kids.

You too can get maybe just a marketing degree (or drop out of high school) and cisco will pay you too!

Ask ChatGPT is far better than any rumor here.

@b2 are you a "cisco essential service worker"? Really - stop trying to be so relevant. You must have an important-to-society job to form a union.

Plus, you'll be paid hourly so you can't slack off all day. A union doesn't sound so fun now right?

Hourly rate is already buzzing so good job. Pay cuts galore. Paid only for on-site or work done while actually on company time.

Cue the "Cisco Systems Union". For important sales reps making $400k a year to say meaningless jargon and watch Young and The Restless!

@cq only a graveyard if you don't know anybody and if you don't have an in-demand skillset. work on improving one or both if needed.

top performer, split on on teams with lower experienced peers, no hope for promo, micro management every day, the play is to get us top talent to resign, and we are looking but its a graveyard out there for our talents.

Form an employee union. Make sure to bargain and cut a deal just like many other unions. No union, company can do anything and fire people at will.

They're trying to beat down the American employees into going away on their own choice because they can't legally cover anymore the fact that they are favoring people on visas.

And knobody knows what the latest Trump changes will do to visa workers so they are scared but can't have a layoff that is 0% visas.
