Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Whats the deal with RDA

I am seeing RDA (Reporting,Data and Analytics) emails all around. Are they planning to consolidate all reporting teams under one leadership?

Will there be reorgs or layoffs due to that? Anyone see it coming soon in few weeks or months or later?

Whenever they bring something new, it is mostly brought as cost effective, consolidation and eventually layoffs.

@qd This is so true! I transferred to a team where they only had 3 senior level positions for a team of about 30 people. They said to get a senior role you had to do all this extra stuff or have 2 markets even though the current seniors weren’t doing the extra stuff. I was told when I took the job that hiring manager thought I would get promoted within 9 months. After 2 years not 1 person had been promoted and do I made another lateral move out of that department. They still send me emails for meetings all the time because they are too lazy to remove or update the distribution list. One I was bored, got an email and started looking at the titles of my former coworkers and they promoted like 8 or 9 to senior positions. Recently all their job titles changed too. But they are Medicaid so I suspect many will end up being riffed as Elevance starts exiting Medicaid markets over the next 18 months. Plus it seems with the titles change they could all possibly be rebadge too.

@qd Don’t leave. How about if we make you Executive Director of Pen Acquisitions?

It does not come with a pay raise but you do get a $5 gift card to Starbucks.

Analysts on our team all of a sudden have new titles and promotion to keep them from moving to the new team. Analysts work for years for promotions here and now promotions given to keep them in the exact same job. You can't make this up.

Wonder how quickly they can get to rifs out of this. Reorganization has started. Not sure what the path really looks like … so many projects don’t really replace anything but just create another place to get data that may give you a different answer…

Any time that the word "transformation" is used, it is 100% going to lead to layoffs. They think the reporting and data analysis is just creating dashboards and reports, but the real value comes from those associates who know how to engage the stakeholders and business owners. They keep blowing up those relationships and removing institutional knowledge along with it. You'd think an insurance company would know the value of keeping these people as "insurance" against the unknown future.

It’s a power grab. This guy has very little experience or expertise and analytics clearly from looking at his résumé.

For what I understand, he has to approve analytics talent in far reaching, far flung teams that have nothing to do with him or that he has zero expertise in.
