Bristol Myers Squibb has ended its alliance with Cellares due to unmet manufacturing requirements for its CAR T-cell therapy, Breyanzi. Cellares' automated cell therapy system, the Cell Shuttle, was found unsuitable for producing Breyanzi commercially. This decision follows a significant capacity reservation and supply agreement made in 2024. As a result of the contract termination, Cellares plans to lay off approximately 100 employees. The company's spokesperson stated the determination was specific to Breyanzi's established manufacturing process.
