Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Shell PEOPLE Survey… does it even matter?

Every year, employees are asked to be honest and say how they really feel. We take the time to fill out the survey, the results are reviewed, presentations are made, and action plans are discussed.

And then… what actually changes?

@d0 just to let you know that other companies do pay just as well if not better. Also, the salary bands actually move each year and keep up with inflation vs the $2k increase every 3-4 years. Shell is good at taking things away

As long as there are pay tier discrepancies, alwyas vote 1s for the compensation questions.

Don’t delete it, at least answer the “I’m underpaid.”

@a2 all the SPS changed was when Huibert got an abysmal result so he pushed forced rankings on all downstream businesses just before rankings.

Yep it’s a joke our manager got a bad rating last year and he is still running the show. So you all are right it don’t mean sh-t. I’m done with the bs I deleted the survey.

Nope. It’s just to identify next for the hit list. The beatings will continue until moral improves.

Behind the closed doors of the executive suite, the C-suite skim through the SPS responses between checking the stock price, estimating their bonuses and pay raises for next year, and booking the next family getaway.

Someone looks up and says: “Wow. Some employees still think we’re asking for feedback because we actually plan to change something.”

The room erupts in laughter. “That’s adorable.”

Taking a PEOPLE survey every year on the one thing you keep cutting every six months.

SPS doesn’t matter. Ignore it if you don’t like your direct line manager or are stuck in your job without a feasible plan to move on. Nothing will change based on the SPS. It’s purely to offer a defensible reason to push out lower tier managers. We have been giving our LT in downstream 1s for 3 years in a row. Downstream Technology had ~30% last year overall rating and will be lower this year. No one at the EC, EC-1, or EC-2 care. We don’t even get a presentation or an action plan so that’s better than we get.
