Brian "The Butcher". Strategy or just habit?

Less than seven months on the job and already on track to eliminate over 20,000 jobs. Impressive. He's already breaking his old records. I wonder if the $1.3 million base salary makes it all worth it?

Senior Humanity Specialist

Brian Cornell has shown his true colors. Slash and burn regardless of individuals' ability. A lot of the people cast off today are among the best leaders we have....had. The heartless way in which this is being executed indicates BC isn't interested... — read more

Get it over with

I kind of hope I'm cut loose. Get out there and find a company who values my contributions versus rewarding a bunch of schmoozers. IMHO that is what is killing Target this culture of doing little and expecting much.

Meritocracy at Target

Office politics has a higher power than meritocracy. I think meritocracy is a concept totally unknown to "Target's people in leadership positions". I say it in quote because there is no real leadership.

Ex-employee's look from the outside in and back out?

Feel bad for all of the current Target employees. I have to say, I think all of you could have seen this coming. I worked for the company for a long enough time to figure out the ins and outs of the way the "politics" work in this place. Your direct... — read more

Severance Package

Anyone know what the deal is with severance packages? I have heard that you stay on payroll until 4/18 AND receive your bonus, then get 6 weeks, get vacation paid out, and finally receive one week per year you have been at the company. Does anyone... — read more

Target Credit Union?

What do I do if I get laid off and Target Credit Union is my only bank? Will I have time to close out my account? I don't have checks so it's not like I can write a check for all my money to a new bank. Ugh.

I have heard about the look of Walmart and we know Brian was at Sams (where is pulled them out of Canada as well.) I found these posts for when Walmart cut big, when our fearful leader was at the helm of Sams. Sound familiar to anyone?... — read more

PMs and BAs

I heard this week that once again they are sending PM and BA roles to Target India. Clearly the PM function is something that Target doesn't care about or doesn't understand. If they need only a Project Coordinator who checks the boxes, yes, it makes... — read more

Target is bureaucratic

One of the reasons this is not the Target of 10 years ago is that the company has gotten so bloated and bureaucratic. Departments are 3-4x the size of their benchmarks in other companies. Brutal as these layoffs are, they're designed to get the... — read more

Layoffs - Last Year vs Today

Last year we were told about the layoffs in our own meeting that was later in the day, after those that were negatively affected were notified. It is crazy though how much money gets wasted around here. Our refresh process had us refreshing assets... — read more

Layoffs are always a short term fix

I think it should be obvious to all of us by now that our "leaders" don't really have any idea how to fix the mess we're in. Layoffs are always a short term fix to get investors off their backs. No meaningful change will occur until a lot more in... — read more

Everything on this blog indicates that Merch is where the giant bullseye is. But of course Merch is a broad term at Target. Can mean a lot of different teams. Honestly, to meet these kinds of layoff numbers predictions, I am guessing entire... — read more
