There are so many VPs now compared to even two years ago. If they want to save money, how about cutting some of those high priced executives? And you thought Steinhaffel's severance was big? You should see what this new regime is sucking off the... — read more

Breathe in, breathe out, move on...

Target is the worst-run corporation in history

And every decision made is deeply, deeply flawed. Take, for example, the corporate bloat. The HR model at Target includes a very specific component around the number of direct reports. In order to get promoted, one needs XXXX number of direct... — read more

Who is Target?

For most guests, it's the employees at their favorite store. Not Brian, John, Kathee, the Board or any of us potentially in the crosshairs. And TI? Most of our guests would be surprised at how many of you are part of the Target Team. A lot of... — read more

Gregg's Severance Package

Steinhafel's severance will be bigger than severance received by 17,000 people working in Canada that are losing jobs. In short, they'll take home 61 million USD, while the Canadians (all 17,000 of them) will take home around 56 million USD. Now, try... — read more

Let's get Targetized

The Target culture is very Minnesota - it's so passive aggressive. They expect you to conform to them all the time, to be "Targetized" and drink the Target Koolaid. If you aren't super bubbly, ultra social and passive aggressive, you get told that... — read more

This will be interesting...

I think it should be obvious to all of us by now that our "leaders" don't really have any idea how to fix the mess we're in. Layoffs are always a short term fix to get investors off their backs. No meaningful change will occur until a lot more in... — read more

Worst news possible

How can anybody work at a corporation that announces that layoffs will be a commonplace occurance for the new few years? And it will be thousands of jobs lost. Employee morale is just going to go right down the toilet.

More contractors?

If the plan is to layoff thousands over the next few years, it wouldn't surprise me if those same positions were later filled by contractors. Target will get virtually the same amount of work done, and will have no healthcare costs, no benefits, no... — read more

What groups are they targeting for layoffs now?

I am confused. The VP cuts were very surprising for me, I thought we were done with layoffs for 2015. But now, they are cutting again. What's going on? Why are they cutting and what groups are targeted.
