Tuff luck no strike. Go back to your miserable no days, long hours craft. You signed up for a railroad lifestyle. Live it or leave it! Simple. Bunch of whiners in here!
Maybe it's best to leave the industry
I haven't been in the railroad for a long time, but if working in other companies is similar to working at UP, then it would be best for me to try to find a job in another industry. It would be interesting if we had data on how many people left UP... — read more
KC loco shop has another bad injury today
Second since June when another guy fell off locomotive.
The main problem at UP
That's been the main problem at the UP for a very long time. The management doesn't listen to its employees. Why make them do the battery test, when it's obvious they would fail it. It's a great idea that will never happen. That management will... — read more

Where do managers go after UP?
The previous company where I worked was also very bad but still had better management. Why UP likes to have such incompetent people in managerial positions we will never know, but I wonder where the managers go after UP? I ask, considering that... — read more
Union Pacific
Before I quit, they always acted like the employee's that do the job, can make it better. So when different and more efficient methods where suggested, the managers, always had a "my way or the highway" attitude. If the managers had any sense of... — read more

Union HOGS!
The problem is that the the high up union reps get paid too well, on your backs. They say they have done all this work (wearing their dress shoes, in your shop), with the carrier, with congress, etc... The ol story goes "pigs get fat, hogs get... — read more
2 more brothers ki---d.
Even as we die for this company, they do not care about us. We only have each other's backs and even then, many of our so called brothers throw us under the bus and snitch us out to management. RIP to the fallen and condolences to their families. One... — read more
Getting closer boys n' girls!

Extra boards
Why won't they at least help out the people who work extra board by getting rid of guarantee and also exempting extra board workers from attendance policy and just stack the shyt out of all extra boards. The positive is They pay no guarantee .and... — read more
The How Does NOT Matter
The How Does NOT Matter. As most of us know, it is just a slogan from the glass palace. Managers can violate honesty, fairness, integrity, accountability, and compliance with policies without any sort of repercussion. Even when someone turns them in... — read more

Your heads not in the game, worrying about new contract. Bo-m, 30 days on the ground. Be careful out there gentlemen.
I'm going to step down
Go back to my craft. According to TCU, the agreement recommended 24% raise. Shoot, I'll make alot more money and not be part of the shatt show anymore.
Seems like we are not going to get what our union expects
Strike will only make things worse. Maybe even give us less than 4% when said and done. Be careful what we ask for. You may think we get backpay. That backpay will be sucked up by the increase in medical we didn't pay for, for the last 5 yrs. Just a... — read more

When will this stop at UP?
Boy, this union negotiation is stressing me out
I hope we reach an agreement soon. Trying to figure out if I have to get a second job to cover my medical. I was told that the max wage increase will not be over 5% in a 2 yr. contract. Basically we would be in the negative due to the increase in... — read more

There hasn't been enough work for the past few months. I'm not sure if this is an indicator of my future here but if it is and I'm to be laid off, bring it on. With so much toxicity and so little to do, I can think of many better things to do with my... — read more

PEB 250 requests medical to increase 15%
The raise we are going to get won't even absorb the cost of insurance. Seems like the board is on the companies side.
3.5% raise 2yr. contract
With that said alot of jobs will be absorbed by contractors. UP forcasts alot of resignations after the contract is final. The big dogs know what they're doing. They don't care about employees, as long as there is profit for the shareholders.

People act as if UP is the only company where they can work
My experience is that those who complain the most are precisely those who are too lazy to polish their resumes and try to get something better. I can't believe that someone who really tries to find a better job can't get anything better. Please... — read more
