Has anyone tried to switch to BNSF?
I stayed in this company only because of my family, otherwise I would have agreed to any other job, even a lower paid job, just to get out of here. Honestly, UP made me feel disgusted with the railroad industry in which I dreamed of working as a boy... — read more
Don’t risk getting in a wreck during the blizzard

UP recruiting. Not!
Someone wrote this yesterday: “I heard about a career fair that the UP was a part of last year that NO ONE was interested in. I was told that it was in Iowa somewhere. As big as the UP is, and with some of the wages the UP pays, that no one showed... — read more

UP has gotten a trump appointed judge to let them back out of Palestine contract.
There will be an appeal. UP likes for people to abide by contracts when it benefits them but not other way around. Expect more layoffs in Palestine to come.
Morale in UP Human Resources department at an all time low.
A lot of people traditionally dislike HR, but I have several peers in HR that don’t even enjoy their job anymore. They don’t respect the company, and are looking to leave for a better opportunity. One of them specifically said she doesn’t even know... — read more

Bonuses and cuts
Well I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t nice to see the managers get it stuck to them too. I was in the crew room by my senior managers office when he got the call about his bonus and it was 50% less than last time he was p-ss-d. The admin lady said... — read more

Former DRO position now called something else but still worthless
Question how do these guys still have a job? If there is ever proof UP cuts the wrong positions this is it. Just renames the position and nobody even knows what these guys do anymore. They’re just hiding in the basement hoping nobody notices they... — read more

Greasing the wheel.
Gets you preferred treatment here, as does polishing the knob. Careful there, someone might put a broomstick in your spokes or cut off the oppressing appendage.
How is this happening?
I noticed the CEO's review numbers on glassdoor have gone up. The situation at the UP hasn't gotten any better. The UP is a cesspool, not one employee left has anything nice to say, and somehow he's doing better?
They “ALWAYS” pick the biggest POS on the property to crown king.
Yet they are surprised by the results....
One year later and nothing from covid response force UP ceo chaired.
All you’ll find is a press release from March 2020 about the big plans. Lots of talk and no tangible results. Typical UP leadership. Quick for PR release and not much else. They dropped that project quicker than a New Years resolution.
