Topics regarding layoffs at AT&T

CWA District 9 Surplus Comfirmed.

Reach out to your local office, they already know the amount of layoffs. All I can say is DTV Yard’s will be hit the hardest. Good luck to all. Don’t let CWA feed you lies.

Outsourcing support

How much of customer service and tech support at AT&T is already outsourced? Is there any point in applying for a job in this field or is it all destined to be outsourced at some point?

What are you hearing in CWA3 SE?

Just curious what CWA 3 SE employees are seeing/hearing so far. Leaked screenshot says 240 wire techs expected to be surplused in this area.

Age a liability

Is it just me, or has age become a liability at AT&T?

Is it worth the risk?

I got an offer from a startup - good job that fits my interest perfectly with good pay - but I'm still hesitant to accept it because it's a startup. As bad as AT&T is with layoffs, at least I know it will still be standing ten years from now, which I... — read more

Management Concessions

For those management employees that were surplussed, how long did it take for them to remove the concessions and go back to paying retail pricing? Was it in the first month, two?

Warner is not financially ill

They've said they want the content producing parts of Warner to get bigger, to go head-to-head with firms like Netflix. Only place I see any cutbacks is areas like payroll and HR, where there would be duplication with the parent company. And many of... — read more

A blind man can see where the layoffs are going to come from, and it is going to be from segments that don't contribute to earnings.

On the last earnings report, WM was not part of the Entertainment Group. On the other hand, landline telephone was part of the Entertainment Group. I'm hoping going forward, that Warner Media continues to be reported separately, so it is easier to... — read more

NJA

Talk with some of the remaining FLA’s and the biggest and worst part of their job is dealing with no jobs available on a daily basis unless there is inclement weather. They are getting beat up on both ends, from the field and their line of Mgmt.

3/15 for Prem/Wire Techs ????

So many at my yard and my fellow brothers at other yards mention that 3/15/19 will be the day for a surplus for P/W techs to be announced. Anyone know the validity of this. We have one L1 at our yard saying yes and the other saying it's just rumors.
