Years ago after being laid off I started looking for ways to cover costs if I was RIF'ed again. There were two things I found, one IncomeAssure won't cover you unless you have held your job for 24 months and and have purchased the coverage 6 or 9... — read more
A job offer was made to me late in the day today.
While the wait and suspense was agonizing, I appreciate that MCBU prioritized the people who were being let go over those who were offered positions. If I had been let go after people had started rejoicing about their job offers, it would've added... — read more
Friends and Family
Just thinking about all the carnage today and was wondering how many, if any, friends and family employees were let go. Chime in if you were one or know of one.
For Those Still Employed
It's back to work on Monday, just like nothing ever happened. You better work your fanny off and suck up to your manager everyday. Chevron needs maximum effort from all of you until the next layoff this year when you, too, will be laid off.
My God I got a job I did not apply for or am qualified to do????
I magically became a drilling engineer today. BROKE!
MCBU Houston
The blood letting is over at MCBU's Houston office. I don't have exact numbers but the sense is that approximately 50% of the petroleum engineers and geologists were let go.
Post if you received a job offer that is new. Not one that you currently fill.
I am interested to see how many people are getting to move to a new job. Are there any must moves that have been placed?
Well, I finally got my 30 minute HR meeting for tomorrow. Time to pack my bags.
I suppose I can use the time to figure out how all this repatriation stuff works. Not like I didn't see it coming, but I am not sure how all of this is going to work out. I guess the expats getting cut are kind of in limbo.
Downstream
I'm ex Chevron, left a while back for a better job to avoid this situation, the writing was on the wall. Is downstream being cut at this time too?
I got canned!
I got back from my appointed meeting. I got canned. My job position was eliminated, I was told. I bet these a$$holes reinstate the job position within 3 months under another title. Yet I get the axe after 12 years and excellent PMP's and rankings. I... — read more
Transition Position
Work 6 more months training a contractor to do my job. That's what it will take for me to get the severance package.
Chevron selling GOT?
The most experienced hands are being shown the door when they are needed most to guide through many changes. An arbitrary rule closed the jobs of anybody here for a year and a half or less. Almost without exception these people are adding little... — read more
No Invite? You are safe!
If you didn't get a calendar invite with your ROM rep and HR business partner for 15 minutes today, then it's safe to assume you got a job. The job owner will call you if you're in a different location or will just come grab you and talk to you if... — read more
COBRA coverage and unemployment benefits
Just want to make sure that everyone knows that they are entitled to 6 months of subsidized COBRA medical coverage, and unemployment compensation. Severance pay does not take away your right to unemployment, and getting to pay the same amount for... — read more
Adios
After 43 years in the Oil Industry I am done. My meeting is in 15 minutes. Wishing everyone the best! It has been a good ride, I have no complaints!
Still waiting to hear
I am an expat on home rotation and have not heard a thing. I suppose they don't want to call and wake me up, but there are only a couple of more hours in their work day over there. The wait is killing me, even if I am not a "Must Move".
Working for Chevron 25+ years and I am ashamed of the whole ROM/ESP process. The Chevron Way has changed. I don't know this company anymore.
The whole process was clouded with 'the good ole boys' cronie-ism. Anyone in a remote location was out of site out of mind. The people 'left standing' were some of the best employees I have encountered, but back-room deals were made. There was... — read more
Houston - The bloodletting has started
meetings rooms are booked solid all day ... black cars lined up along 1400 Smith ... good luck everyone
Thailand, the expats are walking.
Meetings have been held. Many expats, alot with experience, are told they are not selected. Commence the long march home. Good luck to the rest of you.
Meeting invite 'Attendance Required' for today
15 min meeting on 40th floor Houston with HR. I guess that means I got axed. No word from my supervisor.
Layoffs come to Bakersfield Ca
Approximately 170 employees were sent today invites for 15-20 minutes long meetings to meet HR on Thu and bring their company belongings. I bet these are EOIs and left standing ones; big axe on expats but US locals also plenty. Those lucky ones... — read more
Layoffs in Btown
Heard we get hit hard. Thanks chevron
Thanks CVX Layoff.com
Though my faith is yet to be decided, for the past weeks I knew I was not alone. Mentally I am ready for the worst. Even if I am selected to stay on, not sure I will stay very long. I realised that there is life outside work or CVX. Thanks everyone... — read more
Who will know first April 7th? Left standing or safe?
No email including meeting requests as of 7pm. Nothing clear on the website how this will be handled. Will they tell the left standing first and move on to the people who were able to land a job? Will it be the other way around? Will they mix it up?... — read more
Has anyone received notice??
I read on this site that there would be an email this afternoon if you were placed, but so far, there has been no report of that. I suppose it could mean that no one who posts here was selected, but it is unlikely.
Are layoffs going on in Houston?
Saw a bunch of security guys outside the building as I was leaving. My sister works there.
Good luck everyone
Finished packing up today. Hopefully everyone got their personal files, PMPs and personal stuff out of the office. Very much looking forward to getting tomorrow over with. This whole ROM process has been so massively stupid and half-baked that it... — read more
CVX is monitoring this board
Chevron has hired HR staff to monitor this board and spread propaganda. That's right, they've hired folks to monitor a layoff informational website while they continue to layoff workers. The Chevron Way®
