We have a Succession Problem

Succession planning is the most important part of MW’s job. Our bench is weak and not obviously improving. Who are going to be the next in command when the opco leaders retire? They’re long in the tooth and the options are not great.

Bow down to your PDR

I am shocked to see the ABU PE PDR continues to undermine employees and cultivate a fear of retaliation against those who don't bow to him. He should prioritize listening over speaking when engaging with others. His poor leadership is very... — read more

Travel freeze

Planned to attend conference that required travel & was told no travel allowed. My coworker got to go to an event earlier in the year. Is there an actual travel freeze or is my boss BSIng me?

….the reason why….

From Transformation until ENGINE, you hear the ELT figureheads espouse that we are doing this reorg, this change, this initiative, etc all because we have “benchmarked” and looked at the competition and it makes sense that we too should do it. And... — read more

Chevron Mgmt

You will fail in Engine. You need to bring someone who can rule with an iron fist. That’s not in your leadership. I know who can - you know who I am, reach out and let’s settle the amount you are willing to pay to get this done. Otherwise it’s yet... — read more

Can we finally agree Agile failed?

With lagging performance and the creation of ENGINE - isn’t this all implicitly (or explicitly) mean agile failed and we can move on? Stop this performative nonsense and focus on work? Btw - as I see this as a core problem of chevron. These project... — read more

Layoffs shouldn’t be this frequent

I think we need to be asking what decisions in the last 5 years have brought us to this point, where did we go wrong with those decisions, and who should be held accountable. The rank and file are responsible for executing the vision of upper... — read more

Hiring freeze

Learned today that there is a hiring freeze in place, with open roles not being backfilled…

So when do we expect cuts in earnest?

If a new org is to be completed by April 2025, I would expect some major turmoil this fall. Anybody have an idea? Or they’ll just go the route of a thousand small cuts?

What would you have Chevron Do?

I am curious what those on the board are proposing Chevron do instead of layoffs and offshoring. Simple fact is: Chevon is viewed as the high-cost operator (often worst quartile) in most domestic basins and many international basins. This is... — read more

Chevron Knows How To Censor

When things get real, Chevron shuts it down. The prior post from the 15 year employee had everyone agreeing with the bad state of things and bam, Chevron shut it down. Big Oil knows how to silence the truth.

Reorg, cuts and layoffs will lead nowhere

Because there is no plan. Everything will be business as usual, without a thought beyond cutting costs. Good things and quality cost more, so they’ll also manage to get rid of everyone and everything that’s actually critical for the company. I really... — read more

What do you think bonuses are going to be like? Will they do the cuts before or after the bonuses?

I don’t think that word means what you think it means

Performance based layoffs

I can get behind those. But is that what we're about to get? Or will the management use this as an opportunity to get rid of high performers who are highly paid (well paid for a good reason, of course)? I'd like to believe it'll be the former, but... — read more

Best Comment Ever on this Website

In today's whirlwind of corporate buzzwords, layoffs and offshoring are the ultimate power moves for any company looking to "optimize" its workforce. By "right-sizing" (a.k.a. downsizing) our team and "leveraging global talent" (a.k.a. outsourcing to... — read more
