Anybody has more details about layoffs that took place in Calgary earlier this month (Jan 2015)? I do not think they were big, but a handful of people might have been let go.

Any updates on layoffs for today? It looks like SLB and Baker Hughes are hammered today. Also it looks like OXY and BP are cutting as well.

We'll see what happens in 2015, it'll be a rough year with prices rapidly dropping and profits melting away so quickly. We just cannot sustain such a large payroll.

ConocoPhillips is cutting almost five percent of its overall work force, slashing capital spending by almost twenty percent and writing off thirty plus billions in noncash assets because of dropping energy prices...

But layoffs will start soon, the prices are depressed and I think we'll be challenged there - Conocophillips has been pretty good to me so I cannot complain, but I know that there major soft patches in our business model.

btw - check out CHK's board - there is a ton of posts there - it looks like they cut over 1,000 people over last three months or so - heavy hits this week
