Finance in IT???

In the name of all that is holy, why is IT Leadership allocating scarce resources (headcount and salary & benefits) to fund this ITBM team? As you might guess this team is part of Strategy & Services department. The people in these positions do not have any real IT experience so you have to hold their hand on every discussion of anything IT related. Look at the salary range of these positions.....REALLY? FOR REAL?

IT Business Management Finance Leader: The expected compensation range for this position is $221,591 - $270,834, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible.

IT Finance Business Analyst:
The expected compensation range for this position is $124,127 - $151,710, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible.

@2sj This is very specific - you could pick any SVP and say the same thing right now.. no one is safe. How do you know this is legit? Having a hard time believing this is finally going to happen. #readytocelebrate!

@2rc Anu and BB don’t see any value in audit or compliance. Goal is to have Audit cost 50% less. They will combine audit with another function or downgrade the role and get rid of another useless SVP. Change will occur by end of August.

Sure. His portfolio is shrinking and being transferred to others. Anu is unhappy with his performance. And audit will move to a different functional area. Strong probability he will ‘retire’…

For ESC it is Mars consultancy. They are recommending for ESC plants to cut 20% headcount support for the large plants. Just wait to see.

All these changes are coming from McKinsey. Anu and Billy love them. They will blindly follow what a mid level manager (literally!) in McKinsey is telling them.

At one point in time wasn’t IT under finance until MM was hired? Maybe in the Monish days?

IT was also intertwined under/with on-site engineering ops (plant engineering) at some point too. Odd pairing. Nancy was around then.

In these cases the business wants a “translator” so they stick a finance SME in a role in IT. It’s a shell game really. OP is right about the impacts on others supporting the concept. It becomes a burden and time consuming.

Not just enterprise ops, also strategy.

@ax Global Business Services

It's what Enterprise Ops turned into, I think.

Ok. What's GBS?

GBS is a division of finance now.

IT wants to own GBS.

It makes no sense. Don't try to understand.

Nobody with half a brain would go along with it
