Chevron is giving one to each employee amid record profits. Maybe Oxy can follow suit.

Do you mean like Dolphin, Mukhaizna, and Al Hosn?
@1z2 RI was good, but IMO he got the company involved in too many ME joint ventures that did not earn enough.
Chevron made over $12B and gave employees $200M
RI was the best and the brightest CEO.
@1s3 oh don’t get me wrong, I have never been a fan of VH for some of the reasons you lay out and others. I think SC was a much better CEO, and probably the best CEO the company has had to date. I have worked under both. I hope RJ does better.
But even when you dislike or even distrust the CEO, you still put in a full day’s work to get your pay or quit. I’m glad you say you agree. Someone early in this conversation obviously disagreed and preferred only pretending to work. I don’t care what your opinion of VH is, that is stealing. Pointing that out is not defending VH. If you are agreeing with me that that is unethical and childish behavior, we have no quibble.
As far as teaching your children not to lie, you demonstrate that by not lying yourself just like all good behavior you want your children to learn. You do the right thing, and hopefully they will copy what you do. That’s what I was taught and how I was taught it. So don’t be sad. Did I miss anything?
I think you pretty much missed the point/tone – and by a country mile. I doubt it was not meant to be taken literally.
Everyone should show up everyday, on time and put in a full day's work with minimal interruptions or sidebars (e.g. shooting the breeze, commiserating with fellow employees, etc).
I think your message was probably written with sincere intentions. But, I have to ask - since you didn't specifically mention “lying” in your most righteous upbringing - would you like to comment on Vicki's behavior?
Start with this from 2020 after the dividend was all but eliminated:
The cut comes less than two weeks after Hollub said the payout was “one of the defining characteristics of our company” and vowed to protect it.
“This is genuinely frustrating and disappointing to see, especially after the repeatedly, consistently stated commitment to the dividend from management,” Raymond James analyst Pavel Molchanov wrote in a note.

I guess you that you didn’t get that lesson – the don't lie one - growing up. And I feel sad that you didn't.
Just curious, (how) did you demonstrate that to your children?
Do tell as "It must somehow make you feel good or else why would you come on this site and brag about it?"
The lackey doth protest too much, methinks..
@1mr I guess pretending to work at home is actually a lot easier than pretending to work at the office. So my question is, as long as you are at the office anyway, why don’t you just put in a full day’s work? I mean, you’re there and getting paid to work. Maybe it gives you a sense of accomplishment to be able to deceive your boss and the company for a whole day. It must somehow make you feel good or else why would you come on this site and brag about it? I was raised to work hard and not to cheat, even if I probably won’t be caught. I try to demonstrate that to my children as well. I feel sad for you that you didn’t get that lesson growing up.
People that defend or object to even the slightest criticism of VH are her shills or possibly VH herself.
Which are you ?
Cut and paste your clever ". . . says more about you than it does . . . " comment in response to anything you don't like or can't defend.
We're all very impressed with you philosophical insights, Socrates.
As does yours.
@1at I don’t think that is correct.
@1br your post says more about you than it does Vicki.
What a relief !
I read the title very quickly and thought it said “On Time Bonus.”
That sent me into a panic, fearing I might have to actually go into the dreaded office and pretend to work a full day.
Thank God I can still pretend to work from home and get a bonus.
How can anyone not have liked Vicki ?
Ahhh… you weren’t paying attention. VH took all of that bonus money as a reward for her miserable tenure as CEO leading to Oxy’s even worse performance in history. No worries, she is enjoying every million of it.
Speaking of chevron, once oxy debt gets low enough the other company will be getting even for past abuses by Oxy. They will purchase and destroy, keeping only a small portion of the people. Once they make a credible offer the board will be required to accept it. Oh, some will get rich on this but most employees will suffer. Have a nice day.
Good for Chevron, but Oxy has been paying much higher annual bonuses. We are still ahead.
@py Selling large amounts of equity can dilute the power of the existing stockholders. Besides that, what are you saying is the additional cost? What about BH’s investment bothers you?
P.S. Are you abandoning the BH debt argument without saying so?
BH cash bought equity but at what cost. In the financial world you never cover up sins of the past.
@c3 What exactly is the debt to BH? I know Oxy has debt, but BH cash bought equity. Want to try again?
Chevron is a race horse, Oxy is a glue horse. You are only still standing because of POTUS and a still unmanageable debt. Don't flatter yourself.
Oxy did it one year before a November election, following the usual email about PAC website and selecting candidates friendly to the industry. Their candidates won but downsizing began almost immediately after those November elections. If upcoming elections are looking like a Dem sweep, you might end up getting bonuses to remind you how good the current administration is to the industry.
Good enough to keep people at Oxy. Most companies don’t need that high of a bonus. What if the bonus was zero and raises were 3%. We are talking about how life was before about 2005..
You people are so spoiled.
not happening. Just make our next years bonus 200% and that should be good enough.
Increase employee productivity by requiring them to be in the office five days a week.
@c3 Quick question. Without any workers, employees or contactors, please explain how the company will continue to operate? Maintain facilities, perform maintenance, haul water, drill wells, trade crude, analyze subsurface, keep automation running, communications infrastructure, file regulatory notices, handle land activities, etc. Those things pesky humans do that want compensation for their efforts. AI is getting better but isn't that good yet. Please enlighten us with your plans.
The money first must go to pay off the debt to BH. Then to capital projects. Then the stockholders. Then to the employees if there anything left over. Don’t count on seeing any bonus. They don’t really need you workers and quite frankly hope you go away by attrition.
It was a special bonus near year end after record earnings. It was a flat 5% across the board if I recall as @av mentioned.
@av was it not a 5% on top of what your target?
Dream on, doubt it happens... last time that happened was after covid... Vicki gave out a 5% bonus to everyone.
