The layoffs are planned well in advance. It's calculated so that the layoffs hit a certain $$ value. If it's older people in the firing line then that is just because they make up the number.

The real issue comes later on when they have riff'd all the experience. That accelerates the collapse which is what we are seeing happen now at qlik

Nearly every large company runs their layoffs through a specialized team of lawyers to ensure they don’t open themselves up to any lawsuits regarding discrimination of layoffs.

The ONLY notable exceptions might be Elon’s massive cuts when he bought Twitter (I refuse to call it X). But that is a bit unique due to the scale and hasn’t even closed yet.

I guess maybe IBM but that was only a procedural victory about documents at this point - no ex employees are likely to get paid yet.

There are tons of lawsuits but none win.

@apk they sacked lots of older employees right before pension age and 10 years below ! Keeping the young worker it’s rather than the experience

@apk any context about the age discrimination comment?

@ahy such a shame. Qlik had a big head start but failed miserably at identifying and integrating acquisitions over the years. I fear it’s too late.

Waiting for the age discrimination lawsuits to be filed.

Traditional BI dashboards are going away. The world is moving to conversational analytics which are much faster. If you’ve used any decent MCP tools you understand this.

Qlik doesn’t sell strong pre-built semantic layers because they don’t manage any of the source systems.

Qlik doesn’t publish frontier AI models.

Not sure there’s a future here.

@a1x I agree. Feel like we’re just getting started with the changes.

More coming in the next few weeks. The revenue has fallen off a cliff and as a result more cuts in all areas will occur. They're even talking of taking the SKO event in Sweden in Jan and moving to a virtual event to save some money.

The weekly video is just more of the tone deaf rubbish he pumps out. It's not leadership, nor inspiring anyone.

Since he joined, the business has plunged. Customers leaving, a partner network now obliterated and more cuts to come. Everyone knew he didn't have the capability when he came on board. He is now proving what everyone feared.

@72q now getting also the weekly video I know what you mean lol, also on holiday.. lol why are they getting rid of all of UK leadership positions in sales and marketing I wonder, is there a company that's being acquired that sits there with bigger teams?

TB is probably tired of missing every great opportunity for the last 10 years to sell/ipo, so now prepping for 2027 where they’ll be late yet again.

@OP hearing almost every department getting rid of people, US was first, now Germany and UK also. Have not heard anything from France, as usual, good people leaving some average staying and what's worse lots of women affected in this already male dominated company. also people older and people with higher salaries. Seems like a major cost cutting before an acquisition. And for investors to be happy.. on the back of good people who have worked hard to bring the company to where it is today I find this very unfair.

@77h yeah I heard he is swanning around Italy without a care in the world. He has failed to show any leadership qualities and talking to others in his geo he is not well liked by those underneath him.

@6v9 Unfortunately when the number of customers is in free fall, you don't need as many people to support fewer customers. Great employees suffering from problems they didn't cause.

Yes I've heard significant cuts across all geo's. Cutting sales is akin to cutting off your nose and still expecting to be a supermodel.

And now the few of us left now have to pickup the pieces and try to deliver to our customers like nothing has happened. Like why even bother?

MG I'm sure will pump out his usual rubbish video on Friday afternoon trying to explain it away as much needed changes, but the reality is that he is targeting people he doesn't like. He has put his own personal vendettas ahead of the company priorities and that shows a distinct lack of leadership skills.

10% of staff cut - closer to 20% in Sales. No investment recently except in AI tools that aren't selling as Qlik can't build as fast as the dedicated players, and lacks sales with the skills or contacts to sell the new offerings. Existing Customers don't want to know as they are still waiting for the basic features they were promised years ago.

After losing some of Qlik's biggest customers (Ikea, NSW Health) in the last year or two, you would think there would be a focus on trying to maintain the base, but there's no investment in the products that generate the most revenue.

When Thoma Bravo forced Qlik to buy Talend (who were running at a loss), it ate up all the money that should have been spent on existing products. It seems fairly clear that the goal now is just to slash costs and have Qlik be acquired so Thoma Bravo can cash out. At no time have customers or employees been front of mind.

There doesn't seem to be any reason to the latest round of lay-offs. Customer facing roles getting cut shows those making the decisions have zero care about the customer. They sit up in their ivory towers and never meet customers. They surround themselves with only yes people and don't like people who question their authority.

We are now in a death spiral and I have no faith in the leadership to be able to steer the ship out of these murky waters. They simply have no creative ideas other than to cut people.

Budget on hold, teams getting crippled, products promoted that 60% of the customers cannot buy as they are on premise or still on Qlik View and not in the cloud. all departments being micro managed with weekly reporting and new CEO not even there yet, ML running through every department looking at what to optimise but not looking at the heads sitting in those chairs leading those departments... its a mess. start at the top please before you go into firing sellers.. who came up with this product strategy? who is running the sales and marketing efforts? who is spending lots of money in the CSO org let alone a HR department that is not people focused but company focused...
