NYC retiree transplanted to Boca. Looking to buy a fixed annuity. Looked around and noticed NY Life & NW Mutual. The annuity store had their Comdex score as really high up. I looked up Mutual of America's Comdex score and it ranks like at 200 & the score dropped from 57 to 55. NY Life was in the high 90's. What is a Comdex score & why is my former company so low. What happened & is this due to the layoffs ?

The Comdex score compiles all the rating agencies. mutual of america used to be in the mid 90s. now it the score is 55. One level above junk bond status.
