Thread regarding Omnissa layoffs

The main goal is to push people out and force them to quit

Micromanagement and fear tactics will continue... the main goal is to push people out and force them to quit. It is no secret what the management is doing, change people's roles to unrealistic expectations in order to save money and to make the company look profitable on paper so they could off load it to another buyer. For years they have refused to provide employees with a clear Job Description while they shout at every meeting that the role and expectations have changed. They are waiting for people to adjust into their new and force upon role so that they could use the legal claws to bypass liability for changing employee roles without their consent. This is unlawful and unethical. No wonder why people are not performing their best because nor only they dont have capable leaders, they feel like they are being conned by their leaders...

Well said, @x0+1kvzddfk0.

@3ph “ HT sold you guys off right away, which means you were a toxic asset right from the start.”
Maybe you missed it but HT also said expected to milk VCF for 3 years as it gets su-ked dry. Tick, Tick

@1fc Good explanation. A lot of people on this page are just here to whine and complain and make up lawsuits just to feel better. They haven't migrated mentally off VMware-land and want to blame everything else besides their inability to perform.

@1f2
I am not saying that.
What i am saying is that the legal standard to prove some illegal activity is much higher than merely saying something is unethical.

And if someone thinks they are wronged because of illegal activities they should take the right legal steps (instead of complaining about things on an anonymous board)

For example: it is unethical to hire your friends and family over better qualified candidates, but it is not illegal, unless you can prove in a court of law that such hiring practice explicitly violates written law like the civil rights legislation in the US.

It is not illegal to be in a romantic relationship with a key customer contact while also working directly and materially on technical and commercial topics with the same customer. But it is considered unethical in most settings.

Makes sense?

@1f2 I question the ethics as well but it’s most likely due to the fact that we have sailors running the ship that are clueless but use Captain titles. Since most of us were migrated to this island and we now know it does not bear fruit the choice is to stay or get back on the ship and find another island that you can now choose since it’s your choice.

@158 "Unethical doesnt mean illegal."

Let me get this right... you acknowledge that its Unethical and say it's not illegal to incorporate practices that sc--w over the employees because "they can find something else if they don't like it"?

@1ba " If you are stuck and can't find a way forward"

No one is whining... we are simply stating the obvious fact that management is incompetent and has messed this up.

You don't have to be very smart to see this for yourself.

@16d "Looks like there are lots of Omnissa HR and management folks lurking around here... Of course you want people to "look for something new"."

Not at all. Just a person who understands that employment is at will and would prefer to take care of myself and my career by making proactive choices... Instead of spending all day whining on the internet. If you are stuck and can't find a way forward, out of this mess, then that's on you and you're lucky that you've been able to coast thus far.

"Micromanagement and fear tactics will continue..."

Let's face reality. Our leaders are unable to reverse our decline in sales. Obsolete products and unskilled leadership has left KKR with no choice but to continue cutting headcount. This outcome was predictable. Omnissa is doomed to an ongoing decline.

@158 "If you think you have a lawsuit, bring it."

The common thing that every predator does is to make their victim believe they don't have any rights or that there is nothing they can do!

There are many of us who have taken legal action and won... you don't hear about it for obvious reasons. Anyone who understands how these things work would tell you.

My advice is to speak to a lawyer as every case is different. Just do it before October 2026.

There are already enough content to justify a lawsuit, regardless of what HR and Legal try to do to cover the companies tracks and unethical practices

Not true.

Unethical doesnt mean illegal.

In the US, you have employment at will and your boss can change your job and assigned duties as they please. It's the flexibility that allows US employees to earn sometimes 2x the income of their European counterparts.

If you think you have a lawsuit, bring it. Write a demand letter, engage a lawyer, do whatever you think you need to do. That's the only test to see if your claim has merit.

@y2 it’s how lots of tech companies have functioned for some time, unfortunately. Count yourself lucky if this is the first time you’ve experienced it. HR and legal are going to run things by the books so trying to sue isn’t likely an option. If you think you’re a target, your best bet is trying to find something new asap.

There is no transparency or ethics amongst the top management. There are PEOPLE who have been with the company for more then 10 years (some cases longer) who are not caught in this dumpster fire because of managements lack of competence and are now being asked to do what is outside of their wheelhouse and are being told "its your job" or "if you don't like it go somewhere else". It is illegal and unethical to change people's roles and expect them to somehow catch up or expect people who have dedicated years to their career to now just go somewhere else... many people cant just find another job be it due to the market or just their age. There will be lawsuits as it is clear that what the company is doing is unethical. They are treating their most dedicated employees who have stayed this long and supported them through all the turbulence so poorly. This is shameful!

@cj "We should really consider offering a voluntary exit package."

If that was an option, more than half of the employees would want to take that package and run... lol

Maybe even more than half... maybe we should start a poll to find out for sure, lol

We should really consider offering a voluntary exit package that would give people the opportunity to either take it or shut up and get to work.

Yes, this is very true... They do everything they can to push people out including setting up events to ambush employees and call them "training". The sessions are rubbish and provide no benefit to people who are looking for technical content.
