@2bx Choosing to stay employed at Gainwell is a losing situation.

Just to shed a little bit of clarity, not to justify the company, just to shine a light on what they did.

This year, the total payroll increase was 2%. each organization got 2% to distribute among its members. An organization its all the direct reports of a manager. The company takes the total payroll value of that organization and the 2% its calculated from that. just as a reference, last year's merit increases were a whopping 3% of payroll.

As everybody has already experienced first hand, 2% distributed among a bunch of people makes for a whole bunch of unhappy people. there is simply no way around that. Even if you get a good manager that tries to do right by you, he/she simply doesn't have enough budget to do so. If on top of that, you get a bad manager who can't even bother to communicate with you, well... you know the rest of the story.

at this point, its better to just bite the bullet and tell people what is actually happening..."we have no money, cash flow su-ks, no salary increases this year". instead, they authorize a meager 2% that is basically an insult to everybody.

you didn't get any increase...slap in the face
you got 2% or less...slap in the face
you were a top performer and you got 2% or even nothing (and yes, this scenario happens more than you think)...slap in the face

if the salary increase doesn't even pass the startbucks test, why even bother? what is the startbucks test you ask?, simple, take your salary increase and divide it by 365, if the result doesn't allow you to buy a simple starbucks coffee every day, it doesn't pass the test. Heck, at this point, most likely will not pass the gas station coffee test. Again, why even bother at this point.

if you have a bad manager, I get it, it makes a bad situation even worst. if you have a good one, what he/she can really do for you at this point its close to nothing. Front line managers do not make the rules, but sure enough they are being required to enforce them. So, in this situation, everybody loses, no matter how you slice it.

@221 Obviously management or a troll.

I work long, hard 10+ hour days to "make the situation better". Can you say the same? Did your leader have a conversation with you regarding your merit raise? Did you get a merit raise? Why don't the rest of us deserve the same consideration? Asking management to do their job is not whining. You can bet they got a merit increase AND a significant bonus off the backs of the rest of us.

You people sure whine a lot. You're lucky to have a job at this point. Either leave, make the situation better, or shut up.

@1ph Thank you for your advice. Another week has passed and no merit increase (or any other) communications with my leader. No surprise there.

I did as you suggested and reached out to AskHR, which recommended that I reach out to my leader - lol. I honestly don't feel that I should be the one to initiate the conversation as he is after all the "leader". I feel like he is purposely shutting me out as a means of forcing my hand to leave.

What a shame as one would be hard pressed to find a more loyal, hardworking employee. What a difference a few years has made on this company. It saddens me.

@1fg it doesn’t matter if you received an increase or not they HAVE to communicate this to you before the deadline so you won’t be surprised on your next paycheck. If they are not communicating with you report them to AskHR. This was the worst year ever for merit, company is financially strapped and they had to pay back the 6 billion dollar debt in 2027.

Previous poster. Am I the only one whose "leader" has STILL not contacted them to communicate their merit increase? Am I to assume it is because I got no increase? If so, it's pretty cowardly to not communicated that. Who hires these "managers"?

Pretty amazing for one of the largest money laundering schemes in history.

I had high hopes after delivering fantastic performance but was really disappointing to learn that I only got 1 percent

To get above 2.99 is either a lie or a special circumstance. Corporate mandated a 2.xx% baseline. L7s and down got the shaft this year. All in prep to sell.

@z3 Gainwell isn’t even a real company. They exist. They take tax money from states. But they deliver nothing.

other than the obvious leadership shortcomings, there truly are a bunch of individual contributions who do absolutely nothing and have no knowledge whatsoever. The lazy d-mb grifters need to go. There is motivated talent here but they are surrounded by id--ts

I’m thinking a mass departure of employees is what needs to happen.

Well, at least now I know it's not just me who didn't get an increase. Sorry to hear that. I've been trying to study and brush up on things to start job hunting for something else. This company can rot.

@OP It is becoming such a joke. Saved GWT almost $1M and got rated with a 3. For that, i got rewarded a 1%. Seriously!!!

@e0 I was a multi-year 5 rating employee who was dropped to a low 4 this year because of a reassignment to a leveraged leader who chose to ignore the rating inputs the account had given. He has spoken to me twice in the 10 months since our assignment. The thought that that leader is going to profit from me working nearly 2500 hours last year DISGUSTS ME.

I do not know my increase because he seemingly cannot be bothered to make time to meet with those reporting to him. "Hands off" management is one thing, but ge-z what is he being paid for and can I have his job?

@b9 it is double to triple that for VP's.

Directors 20-25% of salary.

Talk about a divide!

@OP I got a 5 rating & 3.5% - I totally worked my butt off, etc.... but compared to what I've heard, I should be ecstatic.

Mgr said one thing, but all I heard was, so... just so the bare minimum, & get a 3. That just taught me to do less, cuz I busted my butt.

You will dine on the scraps falling from the table while your managing overlords collect bonuses of $30-40K.

Rating - 4, increase 0%, no communication from leader as to why. Can't wait to hear the explanation. I am not too far above midpoint.
