I WAS FIRED AFTER 15+ YEARS OF SERVICE- HAD A CALL IN MAY THEN IN EARLY JULY WAS FIRED WITH OTHER IN THE STORE - MANAGER? STILL HAS A JOB - THEN NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER THEY TURNED OUR STORE ALONG WITH MANY INTO A RESELLER... THIS WAS DONE ON PURPOSE/PLANNED TO GET RID OF OLDER EMPLOYEES ACROSS THE BOARD INCLUDING SOME DM's - I'M SEEING A LAWYER BECAUSE I WAS WRONGFULLY TERMINATED ALONG WITH MANY - THIS WAS JUST ANOTHER LAY OFF METHOD FOR MANY - VERIZON SAYS 7 CUSTOMERS DETERMIND MY FATE OF BEING FIRE BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T UNDERTSAND THE BYOD+ OUT OF THE MANY YEARS OF HELPING CUSTOMERS - TRUST ME WHEN I SAY IN A ROOM THERE WAS A CONVO ABOUT CUTTING EMPLOYEES AND THIS WAS JUST A EASY WAY FOR VERIZON TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM A WELLS FARGO LIKE LAWSUIT - FOR TWO YEARS WE COULD DO BYOD+ ON DPP AND SAME DEVICES BUT AFTER JAN 2026 THEY CHANGED THAT...AND OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM DIDNT EVEN TELL US!!!

“If you do right by all of your customers to the best of your ability the sales will flow in naturally & shadiness is not necessary.”
Clearly you have never seen what quotas look like.
@28p+1kymn763g Totally agree ! The challenge is that if your working in a store that’s overstaffed and traffic is way down the volume part just isnt there like it used to be. On another note …the slamming of perks is crazy because now they are considered charge backs so why bother ? With only 1K corporate stores left why are we still on dinosauric commission structures ? BTW does anyone know why we are still not on team commissions? i know …there was a lawsuit pending because resellers never went to team structure and it was a severe conflict of interest. Any other reasoning you have been fed is lies.
@1k2+1kymn763
Based on store quotas your line of thinking would net reps “at risk” commission at best on a monthly basis. You can be the greatest sales person in the world but these quotas are wild. In order to make big money like always is to “slam” or to high volume clerk. High volume clerking will never get you fired.
This is dirty. They looked the other way when it benefited their share holders. Now they turn around and fire a bunch of people just weeks before the panned conversion to indirect. This was planned way ahead of time. Really grimey of them to do this.
Let me get this straight…. You did the wrong thing and you are made that others didn’t go down with you? Sounds as sc-mmy as slamming people with new lines of service that did not need or want… Do the right thing when nobody is looking and stay out of the swamp of desperation. Develop your actual selling and relationship skills. Learn the art of connecting with clients and solution based selling that allows the person to connect and see the value of a new service. If you do right by all of your customers to the best of your ability the sales will flow in naturally & shadiness is not necessary. You got greedy and now you want everyone to go down with you? Grow up and worry about your own accountability and what you have to live with.
People arent singled out. They set a threshold and anyone above the line gets investigated. So basically pigs get fed and hogs get sla-ghtered.
@11h Roll over on managers ? There was an investigation and they could easily see manager codes giving bill credits to slam byod lines and adding unnesscessary perks. Managers never question the integrity of these transactions because they are the ones pushing them to happen in the first place. Basically the quotas are made by building in a certain percentage of slamming. Reps, managers, dm’s etc etc are not making any money unless reps rewrite plans, add loyalty offers with byod lines and perks. Of course they arent making any money if they are fired as well. There will be lawsuits with the byod terminations because they singled out reps for various reasons when it can be proven that managers and coworkers alike participated in the same actions and were not terminated.
You deserved to get fired, but leaders did too, starting with marketing and finance for approving this hair brained promo that was only going to cost people jobs for doing shady stuff and bring no incremental revenue. Utter desperation to show fake growth.
The real question is why you reps never roll over on your managers, DMs and Directors that at best know whats going or at worst encourage it.
LOUD NOISES!!
@A+ VZ worst company to have service with
You were working in a very gray area the entire time. 3 wins rule: was it a win for the customer, you and the company? If any of them are NO. Then you were lucky to stay as long as you did.
the OP just got burned bad.
fired for misconduct. no unemployment. no lawsuit bc fired for misconduct which verizon can easily prove.
when applying for new job, he will automatically be listed as No Rehire Eligibility which is a big red flag.
ouch.
karma is a biaaaaaaoooooch... when u slam accounts u pay for it.
Verizon is now not paying Unemployment
@OP+1kymn763g When they actually fired you for this what did they say it was for ? I’m guessing a manager sat you down and gave you the details of the termination then walked you out ? Also what was the call in May about ? Did the call in May lead you to believe you may be terminated ? There is so much here that doesnt add up. Like someone else said every rep in the store did the byod same day device activations why wasnt everyone termed ?
There must be some type of discrimination going on because pretty much everyone in the retail stores would be fired. Why the sacrificial lambs ? Why is Verizon keeping the terminations under wraps? To terminate right before the reseller conversion and not get that severance offer is wild. All tenured and aged employees are all in the “que” to be let go its just a matter of time.
Me as well - it su-ks - we should all get together and sue them
I was fired as well after 8 years working with verizon, we had some other in our store as well and same no managers were fired either. I'm looking to get a lawyer as well 2 said they won't take my claim but still calling more. it's weird everyone i talked to that has been fired for this has been with Verizon for ore than 6+ years, it's almost like in a room verizon leadership said how can we do another round of layoff with it not being called a layoff. you know that was talked about and then 2 weeks later after me and my other collage were fired our store was told it will be a reseller too and it was just a conference call not even face to face, verizon is the worst company to work for and to have service with.
you cant sue for this. unless there was discrimination based off age, gender, race, etc... a protected class.
verizon strategy in getting rid of you although unfair it is lawful. you violated company policy.
Why are you yelling?
