Today I opened LinkedIn, and the first thing I saw was two posts from former Synopsys engineers announcing that it was their last day at the company. I'm not sure if this means another round of layoffs has just started. Has anyone heard anything?

It will almost certainly happen before Investor Day. I agree with the late August / early September timeline. Honestly, it can’t come soon enough. This is exhausting and excruciating.
@OP I hope the ongoing layoffs come to an end, even if it means having one more major round like the one at the end of last year. Keeping employees feeling uncertain and nervous all the time is really hurting morale. I don't understand why management would want people to work under that kind of constant anxiety.
@br I'm just an average member of my team. If the company lets me go, it probably won't make much of a difference. But if some of the key members on my team leave, the impact would be significant.
My last day was today and I'm moving to a much better company. I came from the ansys acquisition and to say it's been anything but a sh-t show is generous.
My best guess for those that are left is Aug 31st, I have no insider knowledge of anything official but my information source was correct for the March window.
pretty sure this continuous layoff malaise will backfire very badly in the near future.
@bp there is no bigger picture. Sassine just acts on whims, no stability or direction day-to-day. This sh-t comes from the top down, in this case, everyone's just behaving in the same unhinged way Trump does.
Yes, it just keeps going. When and how depends on your exact location. Globally speaking, there are constantly new cases of the layoffs. Most of the time, your direct manager doesn't even know if his or her team will be affected. It all seems very arbitrary. There’s certainly a formula, but it appears to be complex. Aside from overlapping roles, you might be affected because you earn too much—but the same applies if you earn very little and your severance pay is correspondingly small. It seems like the headcount takes precedence over economic efficiency. There are many decisions that customers will certainly not like. Many projects simply aren't being completed anymore because the people responsible have left or those who remain can't handle the extra workload. It's also completely unclear what exactly the bigger picture is.
I'm not an engineer, so I don't really know what's happening on the engineering side specifically. But I've heard rumors that there may be restructuring and layoffs coming, possibly around October or even earlier. I don't have any further details to share, but it seems like another round is coming.
I don't want to lower morale (which is already pretty low), but the truth is, rumors are rarely just rumors.
