Good news! Leadership has decided to offer VSP to the old people (55+) It's time to move into the future and get rid of the old people who don't do nothing.

@1vx Because thats what happened to IT. Everyone that new anything retired or left and now only the id--ts that rode on their coat tails are left.
@150 Why would somebody downvote this comment. This is a very considerate comment and/or sentiment to have.
@fb replace Principal Engineer with CEO and you are spot on.
I love my work and would be happy to work to age 65 but not if it means a youngster with youngins to feed is layed off.
"Don't do nothing." Hey ignoramus, that's a double negative. You just said they DO everything. You win the 🤡 award today. Congratulations!
Must be an uneducated Gen Z or X.
VSP isn't offered by age, it's offered by org. Anyone can put in for VSP, doesn't mean they'll get it.
@ab How would you know? I'm willing to bet you won't last another year. You're too ignorant to be valuable as a long-term employee. You made that fact public with your illiterate post.
@OP and you think a dum--ss like you with horrible English and writing skills, plus a sick attitude about older employees has any future at T-Mobile? You think a bunch of 30-year olds with no respect for experience are running that company? Your job is safe as long as your salary remains low and they can't replace you with cheaper technology. Which they will, unless your job is sweeping floors or something equivalent. Your bosses have the same attitude about you that you have about "OLD" people, and don't forget it, dum--ss.
@c2 The generation that was handed everything and squandered it.
@ch Unfortunately, those are all the people in “leadership.”
@OP Yeah, this 60+ person was up all hours ensuring software worked, the "DevOps" model (e.g., the people who developed it are the ones who operate it; the scheme to reduce ops teams) worked and the whiny wet behind the ears twentysomethings who after a year as an associate thought they should be a Principal Engineer.
I’m almost 60 and would gladly take a VSP if available. Time to let the younger generation take over.
Any link to that news
they need to just fire those who dont have skills. and those who cant hit quota and go on leave every 3 months to keep their job. FU-K THOSE PU----S
@OP make it replace all the unskilled labor with AI. That will significantly reduce the younger headcount that is attempting to function in a business environment. HR they are mean to me and dont respect my thoughts, aspirations, and input (HR adds more headcount to GCC in Hyderabad while putting more irrelevant entry and mid level scammers on PIPs)
It’s truly unfortunate that you are labeling the hardest working generation in history as the “do nothing folks”. 50+ year olds go to work every day, no excuses, work hard all day and after hours, and frequently lose vacation time by not using it. I’m not saying that’s the right way to do it, but “do nothing”, that’s BS
Since the retirement plan is based on the rule of 75 (age plus years of service), my guess is VSP could be for those eligible to retire under this criteria.
Also, “don’t do nothing” isn’t proper English and all people over 55 are not the same. Sadly, I’ve worked with plenty of people without a work ethic of all ages.
You have researched enough of them across the enterprise, to make this broad claim?
If yes, you also haven't been doing your own work, so you are a hypocrite.
If no, you simply are a liar.
Which is it, chief?
"get rid of the old people who don't do nothing."
May or may not be true. What is true, is we understand and apply 2nd grade grammar principles.
Unfortunately, you can't say the same. Such a waste...
If they offer VSPs I highly doubt it would be aged based. Possibly based on tenure, as others mentioned it would be blatant ageism. It’s difficult because they don’t always accept volunteers if an employee is valuable enough, then it can make for a very awkward situation moving forward for both the employee and manager if not approved.
Sc--w the ones who built this company and this industry...yeah that sounds right. WTF-EVER!
Highly illegal and ageist but go on.
This is good news if true. The old people are pretty much worthless and overpaid.
Make it 50...
@a2
I’d gladly take some of that work if they were hiring. Being unemployed su-ks.
@OP that equates to more work for you Yay!
