Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

RIFs today

Someone crucial to the daily and long-term operations of our team was let go today in a RIF. Our work will slow down and become more difficult because of it. Those we support will feel the consequences, too.

Don’t let anyone tell you that those let go are only the bad employees. This was someone with years of dedicated service who performed at a high level. Leadership at this company is only interested in a short term gains. There is no longterm strategy.

They will hire 10 s3rfs in Hyderabad in their place. Don't worry. You'll be fine.

@AH ... I believe your confused. We call them "deadbeats and lazy" and they normally don't hang around for a long time. You know what is expected before going into the job, Clearly you on a low impact WFH team

@ah I’m sorry that you’re too stupid to grasp that a finite number of persons have limited workload capacity and that people on a team bring different gifts and talents. Are you in the c-suite?

The current leadership only cares about quarterly profits. They don't care for the long term of Medtronic.

@OP thank you for sharing this reality. You are correct, so many valuable people are let go, makes no sense until we realize it isn’t really about patients. It’s investors.
To those lucky enough to have never gone thru this, that’s all it is, luck. You are no more special than anyone who has been RIFd but, rather, more likely you are at a more junior level and/or pay scale which means there isn’t enough financial impact in keeping you vs a higher paid professional.

"crucial to the daily and long-term operations of our team" None is crucial to the survival of a team, Shame on your team for letting 1 person take down an entire team, IF this is even true.
Sorry but my statement is true in a business environment. Everyone has responsibility to the survival of the working team.
