Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Being thankful to Oracle

We owe Larry, Clay, and the rest of Oracle management a lot. It is easy to forget how good they are to us, we must practice gratitude. For the same reason I tip my landlord I am going to refuse my severance if I get offered and instead write the HR team and my manager a reference letter. #gratitude

I know this post is sarcastic but in my case it does ring some truth: Almost 30 years at Oracle, maxxed out every available retirement option I could. Got to the point where getting let go would not bother us financially in the least. When I was RIFFed all I had to do is rejigger the 7+ figure retirement to provide a monthly paycheck and carry on as normal. Going from the saving mentality to the spending one was a bit hard, but if you set up your finances correctly you can live off dividends/interest/capital gains.
So while I may be kind of sad to not be working with some really great people (and truth be told some dou--ebags..) anymore I still have to thank Oracle for all the paychecks and good times (there were a bunch) over the years.
