@OP even transfered in laws. Then VZ came back with a 25% discount to TRY to keep them but didn't offer me.

@hq I am still here because I into this bad habit of eating and needing a roof over my head.
@fz I understand. You have to believe it for it to be true. As I recall Verizon had just run fiber to the complex. The feed was punched through the back wall at the hall closet of each unit and because there was no power, it then had to be fed into the bedroom on the other side of the closet wall. They hated it because they had a 10" +/- tall thin black router that had to stand straight up like a skinny tower with lights that flashed all the time. They had run a strip of electrical tape down the front of it so it wouldn't keep them from sleeping. And it had the Verizon logo right on the side. Then they had to run cat5 under the door and down the hall to the living room where their computer was. They had a tablet on WiFi but it was slower than the wired speed. And around 5-6 pm it got worse.
It is no secret that the only reason most employees are still with VZ is because of the employee discount. Else, most of us would already be with TMOB or some MVNO...
I just transferred 8 lines and T-Mobile paid almost 2k towards paying off phones. Service is the same...oh and I got a new phone...for free. Cheaper than my employee discount now and certainly cheaper when my severance runs out and I am a retiree...how sad is that 26 years with the company, and even as a retiree, I am forced to go to another service provider. smh
@d1 He probably had the lowest speed tier. The old 15/5
@dv couldn’t have been Fios. Your neighbors use would have no effect on your speed. Is this even a true story?
@OP But did you cancel that 5 G home internet that never worked for anybody?
Also be cashing out stock soon
@d1 I don't have FiOS since it isn't available in my area. This was about ten years ago when visiting people down the road that have FiOS. Their speeds were coming in at 7-10 megabits per second while right now is am on a tablet with WiFi and getting 200+. Faster when connected with cat6 to the router. They said Verizon told them is was due to all of the neighbors in the apartment complex dragging the speeds down for everyone else. Maybe if it was available and I could confirm the speeds were consistently high I would change my mind. Had one person knock on my door offering our 5g internet. I politely declined because 5g has slow speeds on my work phone and drops signal if the wind shifts even though the tower is not even a mile down the road. It has never worked reliably after corp sent me a 5g concession device upgrade a few years ago. I guess due to the millimeter wave or whatever it is called.
@OP not one person cares. We just got 6 plus lines from a mobile and att layoff employee.
See ya
I'm hoping I get the opportunity to do the same next round of layoffs.
@af are you sure you had Fios and not dsl or 5g internet? No way Comcast is faster than Fios.
As soon as I’m rebadged or laid off I’m transferring my lines out asap
I have convinced over 60 people to port out at least 130 lines from Verizon. That’s just this quarter
It all adds up. They are stingy so go to tmo.
On that topic...any solid resources on getting employee / retiree discounts reapplied? Out of the blue it was dropped (been gone from VZ for a few years). No surprise, none of the VZ Wireless support options know what to do. They keep punting back to "go to your HR office and have them fix it" mantra. But beware, this will probably happen to you too. Hope not.
Oh no......
Verizon is going to file bankruptcy because of losing 6 lines
This is really gonna tank the 3rd quarter results.
@OP Irony = Years working for Verizon and never had an account other than a landline up until about 20 years ago that was closed when we went full mobile. Internet through cable because Verizon has nothing in my area and wouldn't have it if they did. Comparing my speeds to FiOS speeds I've seen at other places, Xfinity blows it away. Probably had one or two days of down time in 20 years and that was in the beginning of covid when everyones bandwidth was being tested as people shifted to new careers on onlyf-ns, or so I hear.
That's going to really hurt them your 6 lines or them paying you trust me we are ok with that
Awesome ! hit them where it hurts: $$$$
