Stop bootlicking for ExxonMobil.
The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?
@op if you thought the assignment was "tell me you're an old (probably white) man making bank at Exxon without telling me you're an old white man making bank at Exxon," you passed! Yay you!
Just read the 48 laws of power and your GTG
@aa Why do they want to leave? The XOM job is ridiculously easy, everything is already documented, and most people just copy‑paste and change fonts and colors in their slides until retirement. The only truly time‑consuming part of the job is the backstabbing and sabotaging each other.
Yet another old versus young post. Yawn.
I’m on the younger side under 40 but I won’t quit just to led another old fa-t be able to stay a bit longer… it seems like old farts are getting squeezed out since they are making x5-10 more than younger folks like me. I know my time will come but I’m gonna wait and see what happens, especially in this sh---y market. Don’t get me wrong, I won’t put a lot of effort in my day to day activities but I’ll make sure to collect that paycheck one way or another…
1 year contract, no exit strategy… just enjoy the ride till they kick you from the party
Let’s be real here. The stock is only at its level for 2 reasons. Since 2020, 1000s of regular employees laid off or pushed out. Inflated war(s). Sorry there is nothing innovative here other than the ways people are betraying other people.
Surviving?
Is that really want you want to do for the next 20 years of your life?
Do yourself a favor if you are young enough and get out now. The company has made it very clear that we are outsourcing the jobs to cheaper labor overseas. Have you seen the size of the building in Malaysia? For the older ones nearing retirement…..take their money and get out as soon as you can.
It makes me wonder why in the world did they even build the Spring campus. Any idea of how much vacant space is not being used?
Find an employer that appreciates your hard work. You are better than this toxic relationship.
