Yes, management will be evaluating people on compliance with RTO in days and hours in the office but they are also going to be assessing people on other factors. High on the list is how you work with other employees. One item specifically identified is respect for others. An example given to managers is the widespread negativity toward others based on age - especially all the references to dinosaurs, fossils and A0s. Be forewarned.

@c9 what if you're not colocated with any teammates? it's literally impossible to collaborate in person.
Yeah. I'm not interested in working with any of you. Been doing just fine without, for years and years.
We will see how this goes...
@aa The people you think so little of as to call them demeaning names are the people who are Fidelity high net worth customers paying the fees that pay your salary.
I’m hearing it too. Part of RTO is to make sure people are actually working but part of it is to make sure people are working together to get things done. Badging in for 8 hours 5 days a week won’t be enough.
well @aa at least if you get laid off you have talent for standup comedy
@OP Noted. I’ll make sure to replace all references to dinosaurs, fossils, and A0s with the more professionally appropriate terminology: “employees whose extensive tenure predates several technologies currently in use.”
And, of course, I’ll continue to respect everyone equally… regardless of age, geological era, or whether they remember when the office had ashtrays.
Thank you for the clarification. I’ll be sure to conduct myself in accordance with all applicable HR guidelines, workplace norms, and the Geneva Convention.
If morale is suffering, perhaps the issue isn’t the employees making dinosaur jokes. Perhaps it’s the Jurassic-era management philosophy insisting that productivity can be measured by how often someone’s a$$ is physically in a chair.
I’ll stop calling people fossils and start calling the policy what it actually is:
A trust issue disguised as a workplace strategy to satisfy a babysitting metric.
What do you mean by hours in the office ? Sounds insane.
