Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Which team/roles are LEAST stressful for tech related opportunities?

Looking to transfer to a different team within IT. Decided to browse the internal job board to see whats out there. Mainly concerned with WLB/limited stress. Is Cyber fairly laid back? What about infratructure/OCC? Or maybe being a DBA? Or working with the Workday team? Appreciate any thoughts!

Both of those and much more, like I said scour the forum and actually talk to some folks at the IC level before you make the move.

Dang, mind sharing a bit more as to why it’s not good? I was actually thinking about transitioning over to the cyber space, maybe into IAM. Is it just being overworked or bad management?

Cyber is not good. Just look at the posts on this forum. I feel as though I have no prospects for my career because of how they have treated me and other TAs.

@aj large corporations in financial services and telecommunications are all playing the same playbook of laying off domestic citizen workers and outsourcing their jobs to India either via contractor body shops or setting up GCC offices in the large Indian cities.

This is especially true of IT roles.

IT is sc--wed in the US

@aa
Are you specifically referring to HR IT jobs being outsourced? Or just IT in general?

Surprisingly, OCC is pretty laid back. They have wonky hours but from what my friend tells me they are always well staffed

@a6 careful, many IT jobs are being shipped overseas to India. The stressful part is like a roulette wheel. There is a neurosis where you feel at times that you need eyes on the back of your head because you just never know when your job will be eliminated and shipped overseas all to save 30% on labor costs.
