Mastec Local 827 NJ

Mastec negotiating first contact with Local 827 in NJ. Any word on what work they will be doing?

Just to confuse things more, MASTEC does do VZB work in Florida. They were contracted to install our One Fiber routes, maintain a database for fiber allocation and they have access to our dispatching tools. The company took this work away from IBEW local 824 and handed over to yet another contractor. Same thing they did with our fiber locates (STAKE) and now our CPE work is starting to migrate to HCL. Most of us are expecting them to declare a surplus since they took all of our work away.

@b5 Good. Thank you for clearing that up. But this is the first time 827 will be representing the workers? And this will be their first contract with Mastec in NJ? Good look bargaining with those Floridian a$$hats

@aj maybe try having some factual information? What on earth does this have ANYTHING to do with Verizon? Lol
MasTec purschased a portion of Altice/optimum and IBEW represents those members.
I am bit confused about the “Vz fools” and “thank your union reps” statement. A 2 second google search could have saved you some embarrassment. Unless you somehow were under the impression that Verizon did cable company work 🤷‍♂️

@a7 1000% incorrect. Mastech purschased a portion of Altice. It has absolutely nothing to do with Vz

@aj Still not sure what they will be doing. Henkels and McCoy are a division of Mastec. They get a lot of pole upgrade work from JC and PS.Not sure where Verizon fits in to all of this. That’s why I asked. Mastec tries the non union route whenever they can. Good for the workers to unionize.

@OP So where are all the VZ fools who were saying” they can’t have contractors do my job”! F…ing hilarious. On response I remember seeing was “ 100% fact no contractors in NJ”! Remember to thank your union reps

@a7 Engineering or pole work is the question. Local has been pretty quiet on this. I should have added for 827 members only. Wireless, continue with your layoffs
